sspindler Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 When opening a pdf or svg from an external application, such as Illustrator or QGIS, text on a curve gets broken into separate objects. It would be ideal for the text path to be recreated and have editable text along the path. Attached is an example of what I'm referring to. I'm a cartographer. My primary tools for the last 25 years have been a combination of Illustrator plus a plug-in suite called MAPublisher. I've been very interested in using the Affinity suite of programs in combination with QGIS. To use Affinity Designer, type on a curved path that is imported from other programs is essential. Quote
Fixx Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 I think the problem is that PDF and svg do not support text on path feature but need to cut text to separate objects. Quote
fde101 Posted March 21, 2020 Posted March 21, 2020 Agreed, it is not likely at all that the Affinity application is breaking up the object, but rather the original application that produced the PDF/SVG being imported. The Affinity application is then faithfully importing whatever was actually in the PDF. I don't believe the requested feature is feasible at this time. Quote
Farcus Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Hi sspindler, Were you able to resolve this issue? I too am trying to use the Affinity suite for cartography, but am having trouble getting curved labels into Designer. Thanks, Quote
