Misternick808
Seems as if “expand stroke" only works for strokes when using shape tools (rectangles, ellipses, etc). When trying to expand stroke of pencil stroke or vector brush stroke, nothing happens.
DM1
For me, works on pencil stroke but not on pen or brush. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Staff Sean P Posted March 9, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 9, 2020 Hi Misternick808, I've just tried this myself and it seems to be working correctly. However please note that expand stroke will only work on strokes that are set to 'Align Centre'. If you go to the Stroke Studio and check the stroke isn't Aligned Outer/Inner. If you're still getting issues could you get a screen recording that shows the steps you're taking to reproduce the issue please?
DM1
@Sean P Hi Sean here is an example. Stroke is centred but brush stroke won’t expand. Brush used is Felt Pen (standard affinity brush). Staff Sean P Posted March 10, 2020 Staff Share Posted March 10, 2020 Hi DM1, This is actually intentional. It is because the brush is a texture brush and cannot be expanded to retain the look of the brush, therefore we don't expand. It could well be this that is Misternick808 is experiencing. DM1
Thanks for confirming Sean. Paul ((Mudditt) suggested that might be the reason. Misternick808
@Sean P thanks for the explanation. It is what I was experiencing. But is it limited only to textured brushes? Seems like many of the solid brushes or the engraving brushes wont expand either.

I think it is limited to ‘pure’ vector brushes, everything else being raster files over a vector line; as my little understanding goes, for us to be able to expand strokes of more complex brushes (such as the beautiful ‘engraving’ new stuff) Affinity will have to improve the brush creation making possible to use ‘real’ vector shapes over a vector line, and I think we are years away for that to happen.
