Dell U2713HM Posted February 27, 2020 Posted February 27, 2020 Hello, I've just downloaded Affinity Photo 1.8.0.585 for Windows. Unfortunately I immediately encounter a slight problem. It takes about 40 seconds for the workspace to appear. The "splash window" appears immediately and disappears after a couple of seconds. I've had the same problem with 1.7. I'm using W10 version 1909 build 18363.657,an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor ,16 GB ram and an M2 (Samsung SSD 970 EVO) system disk. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? sincerely, neil Quote

Since there are so many questions about the new upgrades, might I suggest that you post your topic again, but with a new and more descriptive topic heading? I am sure that there will be people who use Windows who will be able to help you, if they spot your question. 😊 Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 16 GB unified memory, 1 TB SSD storage, Ventura 13.6.7. Staff DWright Posted February 28, 2020 Staff Posted February 28, 2020 Hi Neil, Can you please reset your Affinity Photo back to its default settings by holding down the CTRL key while launching the app. When the Clear User Data window appears, click Select All and then Clear. The Photo will now open. Be aware that resetting your Photo back to its default settings will lose any custom settings such as keyboard shortcuts and brushes etc. To backup such settings before resetting the app, please watch our Affinity: Exporting User Settings and Keyboard Shortcuts video. - https://player.vimeo.com/video/189596577/ Quote
Dell U2713HM Posted March 2, 2020 Author Posted March 2, 2020 Hello again, Thank you DWright for the suggestion. However I had previously tried the CTRL and Clear trick but it did not help. Then I noticed that when I set UI Style to Light in "Preferences/User Interface" then the start up time became approx. 40 seconds. If I reset UI Style to Dark then the start up time is 10 secs(sic!). I have been using the light screen mode since AF1.6! Since my days with LR and its unergonomic black screen I've had an aversion for similar solutions and hence preferred the light screen mode in AF.
