  1. Hi, I've just acquired a google Pixel 8 and tried the dng format from the camera. However when opening the dng file in AF2.5 the resolution seems very low even though AF shows the file size as 3072x4080 pixels. The corresponding jpg which is taken at the same time appears as much sharper when also displayed at 100%. I'v searched the internet and found similar complaints from those using LR but no explanation. Does AF support know what the problem is?
  2. One of the first things I tried was to customise the tool bar! However, the object selection tool was not available there either. However one interesting point. I had installed the .exe version of AF2.6 beta for windows. So I unistalled it and downloaded the .msix version instead. And lo and behold, the the object selection tool is now visible in the tool bar!!!
  3. Hello, I have used Settings in AF 2.6 to install the machine learning files. However I don't see the Object Selection Tool in the tool bar! What have I missed? I am using W11 ver. 24H2. regards neil
  4. When I use the develop assistant to change the tone cure setting to "Take no action" nothing happens. I have to close and reopen the raw file for the change to take effect. In a video on raw development by James Ritson the change takes place immediately!
  5. I can't chnage the brush size in Windows AF photo 2 beta 2.1.017136 by using square bracket or ctrl+alt and left mouse button !
  6. Regarding my message from Nov.15 on the start up and loading times of raw files in AF2 I would like to mention that the problem is now resolved. Since the slow start up time began with AF1.8 it occurred to me that the problem has been inherited by subsequent updates of AF. So I decided to erase the C drive, reinstall W11 (Version 22H2) and all apps including AF2 (no version 1 releases of AF) The start up time for AF2 is now 5-6sec (prev.40-50sec) and load time for a 20MB MFT raw file is 8-9 sec (prev, 20sec ).
  7. I've just bought and installed Affinity Photo 2. Unfortunately the start up time is very slow. It takes 50 sec.before the tool bar is displayed and it takes 26 seconds to load a 20Mb MFT raw file!. I'm using W11 V21H2 on a desktop computer using an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor and a M.2 system disk. AF 1.10.5 was a bit slow starting up but nothing like V2. sincerely neil
  8. Hello again, Thank you DWright for the suggestion. However I had previously tried the CTRL and Clear trick but it did not help. Then I noticed that when I set UI Style to Light in "Preferences/User Interface" then the start up time became approx. 40 seconds. If I reset UI Style to Dark then the start up time is 10 secs(sic!). I have been using the light screen mode since AF1.6! Since my days with LR and its unergonomic black screen I've had an aversion for similar solutions and hence preferred the light screen mode in AF.
  9. Hello, I've just downloaded Affinity Photo 1.8.0.585 for Windows. Unfortunately I immediately encounter a slight problem. It takes about 40 seconds for the workspace to appear. The "splash window" appears immediately and disappears after a couple of seconds. I've had the same problem with 1.7. I'm using W10 version 1909 build 18363.657,an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor ,16 GB ram and an M2 (Samsung SSD 970 EVO) system disk. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? sincerely, neil
