dangerous2a Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 (edited) Hi, I just installed Affinity Publisher & photo on windows 10. I cannot access the tutorials. Message is "Failed to launch web browser for the following URL: https//affin.co/PublisherTuts" (or https//affin.co/PhotoTuts from Affinity photo) when started from the tab in the menu bar. Clicking Welcome on same tab then Tutorials just freezes the program and I can only close it from the taskbar Icon, right click & close window. Looking in task manager when A.publisher or A.photo starts there are 2 instances shown as running in Apps. Not sure if this is relevant. Any ideas? GarryP Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 The URL given is invalid as it is missing a colon after the “https”. Try this link instead: https://affin.co/PublisherTuts As for why you can’t access this page from Publisher, I don’t know since it works okay for me on Windows 10 from either the Welcome pop-up or the Help menu. Have you checked to see what your default web browser is? Maybe change it to something different and see what happens. Quote
dangerous2a Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 Thanks GaryP, That is just a typo on my part I think as I could not copy the message direct from my screen. It seems odd as my W10 laptop is fine. I can access it directly from the URL in a browser (Google Chrome) but not from the program so I don't think it is a firewall issue. Strange! Quote
GarryP Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Strange indeed. It’s the “Failed to launch web browser” bit of the message that seems like it might be key to the issue. If it’s not because your default web browser isn’t available for some reason, it could be an app permissions issue or something like that. I don’t know how the Affinity apps do what they do so I’m not the best person to advise. Maybe a moderator can give better info’. Quote

Even if it appears to be, resetting its settings back to factory defaults have cured some issues I have had in the past Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. Staff DWright Posted February 12, 2020 Staff Posted February 12, 2020 Hi @dangerous2a, Can you also check your security setting in your web browser as the tutorial link from the welcome screen is a shortcut that opens the application learn page on our website in a new tab in your default browser Quote
dangerous2a Posted February 12, 2020 Author Posted February 12, 2020 Hi, Thanks for your help. After checking a few other in program links (including some in Outlook 365) they also did not work. For some reason the default browser was set to Launch windows App. Changed it to Chrome and all is fine now. Thank again. Quote
