I have Affinity Designer version 1.6.1 and edited a file in Affinity Photo 1.7.1 then saved file in Photo.  When attempting to open saved file back in Designer I received this message:  The file version is not supported by this version of Affinity. Suggestions please.

Update the Designer version, probably the file formats have changed during the v1.6.1 to v.1.7.1 software migrations.

☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan
☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2

The file format did change - during the 1.7 beta there were warnings that the 1.7 format wasn't backwards compatible.

Hi Bertm,

Welcome to the forums :)

I can confirm the above is correct, the file format was updated between these versions making files opened in 1.7 or higher not editable in version 1.6.

Could you please confirm why you're still running this version of Designer? As it is almost 2 years old now.
