kobaltkween Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 I've posted about this before, but I haven't gotten a response on part of my problem. I've also discovered new aspects of the problem. My Affinity products, both Photo and Designer, fail when trying to access the web on my box. It means that Designer crashes on opening. I can open Photo, because I followed very helpful instructions to get rid of the splash screen on opening. Which I really appreciate. I think this problem is also related to why accessing Help fails, but I could be wrong. It definitely told me that it couldn't access the web when Photo's Tutorial menu option failed. Trying to access "Welcome" in seems to have frozen Photo. I'd really like to fix the core problem and get Photo and Designer to a fully operational state on my box. Is there anything I can try? Any information I can share that might make solutions more apparent? Quote

Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.5.7 | Affinity Photo 2.5.7 | Affinity Publisher 2.5.7 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Staff Lee D Posted December 16, 2019 Staff Posted December 16, 2019 Do you have any apps installed that may block internet connections such as a Firewall or AV software, have you tried turning these off? Our Help files are built into the app but do use elements of Internet Explorer to display, this also sounds like it's being blocked. Our Windows 7 tests systems are working fine, but these only have the default apps installed as well as ours and all available updates installed. Quote
kobaltkween Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Aha! My IE is ancient, and I haven't used it in years. Why in the world are you forcing people to use that horrible browser? That would be the problem. Is there anywhere I can make it just use the default browser? I have Firefox (needs updating), Chrome, Opera, and a fourth browser that all work fine. Oh, and I tried changing my Windows Firewall settings to allow Photo and Designer access to the web. It didn't work, though perhaps that's also a problem. Yep, just checked, and my IE won't even open. No clue why, and that works fine for me since I trust it least among browsers. Quote
