Photo crashes every time I try to do a pano or merge with 16-bit tif files. These are 4000x6000, around 120mb each.

Crashes every time, actually, the program freezes solid right after selecting the tiff files and hitting the open button that would load them into Photo.

If I take the same files and convert them to 8-bit, it loads. At 8-bits these are around 35mb in size each.

I uninstalled Photo, cleansed the registry and did a full new install, v.1.7.3.481. No difference. I have 16gb of RAM. Using Windows 10 always running the latest patches from Microsoft. No unusual hardware.

Is this normal, or is this a bug?

I can post the files but it seems to happen with any set of 16-bt tif files.

Can you please attach a screen recording of this in action, just in case we're missing something? Is it actually crashing or freezing(not-responding)?

see attached. cpu goes to 0% activity and it freezes. After that, I am clicking on various buttons and menus, no response. You can see that the thumbnails previews never load into the merge dialog box before it freezes.

And also here's a video of a panorama freeze. The first time is with 8-bit files, they previews load into the dialog box and it will work fine going forward if i don't cancel it out. The second time with the same files at 16-bit it freezes without loading the thumbnail previews, just as with HDR marge.

-->And it freezes the same way for Focus Merge and for Stack with 16-bit files and it loads fine with 8-bit, which I just checked for the first time a minute ago.

Can you please zip your "1.0" folder from %AppData%\Affinity\Photo and upload it on that dropbox link? Can you also upload a list with all your installed programs?

Just dropped it in.

--->And so I went ahead and uinstalled Sagethumbs. And that seems to have cleared up the problem.

Thanks for looking at this.
