PicGeezer Posted December 15, 2019 Share Posted December 15, 2019 I'm upgrading my current mid 2010 iMac to a current model with 6 cores, 16 GB ram, and 2 TB fusion disk. I've cloned my current installed software and apps using Apple TimeMachine and will use the resulting file to transfer apps and data from old to new computers. Before my "Affinity Days" I did this when replacing an HDD on my current Mac, worked very smoothly. I read that the latest version of Affinity Photo--installed on my current machine--supports multiple cores. My question: Once installed on my new Mac by the transfer, will the upgraded version of Affinity Photo recognized the multiple cores and use them? Surely every macOS version of AP is able to use all cores and after the transfer no re-download is needed. But soon there will be a beta here. Hi PicGeezer Affinity will automatically detect the CPU and should not require an update or re-install for this to work as expected - having said that I have previously seen that certain settings in the Affinity app occasionally do not carry over well between system to system, and you might find you need to reset your app to default settings after migrating in order to overcome this but this isn't a necessity and hopefully your transition will be smooth!
