Hi, new here... question... the icons for designer and publisher only show up as generic on the task bar at the bottom of windows... anyone know how to fix that? I'm running latest versions of those programs. BTW, it shows for photo though....Thanks!

Hi Boomer,

Welcome to the forums :)

I'm not sure if I understand what you mean by generic if possible could you provide a screenshot of how they look?

Thanks

In Windows, if you have just installed an application and it shows as a basic white rectangle in the taskbar, one simple way to refresh the taskbar is to change to a different default web browser (via Settings / Apps / Default apps), and then change it back again.
If this doesn’t work then a screenshot, as requested by Callum above, will help us to see what you see.

Thanks... here's a screen shot of my task bar... notice the affinity photo icon but not designer or publisher. FYI, the screen shot is upside down

What do the application icons look like in their original locations?
If you are using Windows 10, right-click on an application in the Start Menu, then choose “More → Open file location” and you should see the shortcut for it.
What does it look like?
Then right-click on the shortcut and choose “Open file location” to see where the EXE is.
What does this look like?
(I don’t know off-hand what the procedure is for other versions of Windows but it shouldn’t be very different.)

P.S. This only works if you didn’t install the applications from the Microsoft Store.
