If got a document with my own character styles... when I insert a TOC (text->table of contents->Insert table of contents) the character styles I've created disappeared and TOC styles appeared... any ideas? maybe I'm doing something wrong? Attached a demo file with history enabled... one step forward to insert TOC and see the character style My Title go south Thanks!! It simply is not associated with that Text Frame any more because TOC text styles are defined in the Table of Contents studio panel, not the Text Frame itself. To see that the character text style exists just switch to page 2 or 3 and look at those frames. However, to use TOC entries you need to use paragraph text styles, not character text styles. Entries are selected for a TOC based on their paragraph text styles.
