When I select <Select> from the <Basic Operations> tutorial list the Tutor's sreen immediately appears as in (TUTOR SELECT.jpg)  When I open my screen it appears as in (MOI SELECT.jpg) The <Move> Tool is certainly available but I can't find anything to move! Has Tutor James Ritson (who in previous tutorial <Open and Import>)  uses a Mac computer that behaves rather differently to my PC opened or dragged that very large listing of <Objects> from (Where) ?

If you haven't created (New) document or have not opened (Open) document, then what should be moved?

The tutorial opens with that screenful of <Objects> and the introduction "...here ar the various ways we can select objects in Affinity Designer. So one way we can do this is to select objects on the screen or canvas. One way to do this is to make sure we have the <Move> tool selected and...." He is clearly using his Mac. From (Where?)  has he previously fetched his 'screen or canvas' and how should a humble PC user follow those instructions? Why is there no preamble letting PC users that their experience will (almost) certainly be different? In other words 'What earthly use is this tutorial to me?

@Bob_Sloan The tutorial starts with a document already opened because if you want to learn selecting, you need something to select in the first place. This would be the exact same on PC so it has absolutely nothing to do with the operating system. It's just that the tutorial assumes that you're already familiar with opening and creating documents and creating content inside these documents. If you don't understand that you need a document with objects first to make any use of selecting at all, you should step back and start with even more basic concepts. You need to know the idea of document handling in computer applications and how this is used in vector graphics. Otherwise the tutorials won't make much sense to you.

Edit: You also do not need the exact same document with the exact same objects opened to follow the tutorial. This is just an example. Selecting works the same across every possible document in Affinity Designer. This means that you need to be able to transfer what you've learned from selecting the objects in the video to selecting other objects in other documents.
