lserpes
I'm trying to make an O letter in Affinity Designer. I can't be part of a letter and do CTRL + J and create half a letter. Boolean operations simply do not work. Can someone help me?
lacerto
You can join to curves by first selecting the Node tool, then pressing down the Shift key, and while holding down the Shift key, clicking the curves you need to join. This way you can create the halves for your letter O (and then join the two halves), but I have not found a way to close the curve (that is, merge the start and end nodes of the curve) without distorting the curvature. There is no equivalent to Illustrator Ctrl + J and the only way to join the start and end nodes seems to be to manually dragging the start and end nodes on top of each other, but then the curvature is changed. Also, when joining curve segments, you need to pay attention to not create duplicate (overlapping) nodes. (But I hope that I am wrong --I have just recently started to use Affinity...) firstdefence
Why not use the donut tool and just elongate it. Kisser = Keep it simple silly, easier route. firstdefence
Not sure if what you are creating should look like it does but when creating letters, however styled, use the grid, Create your letters and then you can place, rotate and duplicate them as you wish. You can use boolean operations: subtract, to punch out the holes for letters like P, R,O, B etc. In the image below the grid is set to 10mm with 10 sub divisions. If you don't want the letter to be as neat you can always distort it afterwards.
