Driver support provided by NVIDIA for the Compute aspect of Metal is not as reliable as the current Intel & AMD graphics cards currently found in in Apple hardware. However, if Apple start using NVIDIA cards again in their hardware, we'll look into this again. If you want to use Metal it would have to be with your intel integrated graphics. I would play around with metal enabled and disabled to see which gives you better performance.
