  1. Oh, I am sorry for the confusion, this described the behaviour in indesign (cs5.5)
  2. Yes, this is essential. Also I need an option to replace a paragraph style with another. Now, whenever I delete a style, the affected items return to a basic appearance. I want the option to specify a replacement for this style.
  3. Yes, I know about these options, but there is one missing: make the frame fit around the image, without it changing the size of the image and without cropping or blank frame. Double clicking with the arrow tool on the edge nodes will also make it warp around the image.
  4. I did it using the little arrow on the top right of the Text styles panel: detach and delete all styles save styles as default it does the trick for me.
  5. Please add the ability to make the frame fit the image, and the image fit to frame. What would work is double clicking the transformation handle. It is quite hard to make an image fit exactly. Or some kind of snapping option, that would make it easier.
  6. One thing that annoys me with text styles is, whenever I start a document I already have some text styles included in the document. However useful this might be in some cases, I never use them, preferring to start from scratch. It would be nice to have the option to start without predefined styles, either as a global option in preferences, or as a document option.
  7. This does not work for the Picture Frame tool, though. I hope you can add it here too. Perhaps a quick button to the resource manager would be handy too?
  8. I have to disagree, whilst these programs mimic some properties of real-world tools, to archieve a naturalistic result, but they will always be computer programs that have features that real-world tools can not archieve and vice-versa. But this is not really the point, I don't compare Affinity to Real-World media, but to other digital art programs. Affinity does some things differently than other programs, but the basics are comparable. In the programs I mentioned, the eraser behaves in a same way the brush works, in Affinity it does not (in cases where the wet edges are involved). This is what I hope they will change.
  9. The word "transparent paint" is certainly confusing, I agree: it is a term Clip Studio Paint uses. What I mean is, that the brush adds alpha/pixels and the eraser removes it, but the mark made should be the same. I can use brush sharing in Affinity, which is a great feature, but when brush and eraser versions of the brush are different, this is not very useful.
  10. Could anyone from the development team tell me something about this? Is this an area you are working on? @Ben @MattP
  11. In Clip Studio Paint, there is the option to paint with "transparent pixels", which basically makes every brush into an eraser directly. One can easily switch between color/transparency with a hotkey. Instead of adding pixels/alpha it removes alpha, which is really all there is to it. If I use a hard edge brush, it gives a hard edge eraser, a soft airbrush gives a soft airbrush eraser etc. This is what I would like to see in Affinity, and is also standard in other painting software, for instance in Art Studio Pro & Procreate. Paintstorm has an eraser button on the brush setting which turns every brush into an eraser. This is why I find it hard to work with Affinity's system, it just seems counter-intuitive, and the wet edges settings sometimes not working on tool switch is just very annoying...
  12. Please check out, as an example the "ink brush small" from the "pens" category: it has wet edges set, which creates the appearance of the ink slightly running on paper. The actual brush tips are rather soft. It is the wet edges setting that creates the specific effect. Now if you use this brush to erase, which I normally would, and you get a soft brush without the edge effect. I would say the eraser setting of the brush should be the same, just a negative version of it.
  13. I would like to see some improvements to the brush engine in the affinity programs. I have been using the latest beta, but was disappointed that there seems to be hardly any improvement in this area. The most prominent bug has to do with the custom wet edges setting. Many lovely dynamic brushes have these, but these properties do not work when erasing: so when I want to use the same brush to erase (which is my normal workflow, paint/erase with the same brush) the brush is completely different, soft and blurry. I find this to be very annoying when trying to use AD or APh for drawing and painting. I have to create a workaround with masks or switch to a hard normal eraser, which does not look as nice. A related bug is that when I switch back from eraser to brush, the wet edges setting of the brush does not work, and I get a soft blurry brush. I have to switch back and forth between brushes for the real brush look. I really hope you can improve this, as it is pretty groundwork stuff when using these apps for raster illustration. The brush engine has potential, but this is holding it back. I use an iMac 2011 with 12 GB ram, el Capitan (no Metal) and and iPad Pro 12.9 PS I posted this in the normal suggestions section, but got no response, so I hope someone from Serif can respond here....
  14. absolutely agree on this. This is one of the most powerful features of illustrator. It would give more control over the actions I want to duplicate: how many copies, exact degree of rotation, exact distance. Also would be great to be able to scale and/or rotate each instance by a specific percentage. A random option like AI offers would also be welcome.
  15. When using artboards, elements in the bleed area are invisible, regardless if I switch show bleed on or off. I suspected it had something to do with clip to canvas, but this option is not accesible (greyed out)

  17. The last version does this too. My graphic processor is AMD Radeon HD 6750M. Resetting all the preferences seems to have solved the issue, no idea what caused it though?
  18. It happens with newly created documents as well as opened documents here is the video selecion_bug.mov
  19. I created the table from scratch, but inside a PDF document which I opened and then started editing. The table was new though. I tried creating a new document and work on the table, and this seems to work better. I have no idea why the document would create such a problem. Here are some thing I ran into: The buttons for the setting of Insets in Cells is very unresponsive. Dragging rows seems to be OK, dragging columns does not work well When dragging other values, it is often slow, and the sync function often does not work. Also I got a crash dragging a value slider even with a new document I got a crash when dragging the table column...
  20. Whenever I select something in ADes the whole canvas turns black, not just the portion I selected. This is a very annoying bug I hope it can be squashed. Latest Beta, iMac 2011, el capitan (no metal)
  21. I am working on implementing a table in AfPub, which is when I noticed that changing the width of columns (and rows) by dragging them is awfully slow and hardly responsive. Basically I can not make any proper adjustments this way. I can enter a value in the table menu to set the width, and this works OK, but this is not always the easiest way. I also noticed is that the up/down arrows in the table menu to increase/decrease a value does not work, neither does dragging left to right. I hope you can work on these issues as tables are quite important to me, and they don't quite work as they should. I am using an iMac 2011, i5 with 12GB ram, on el Capitan (not Metal compatible)
