3 years gone and no improvement. You see how a lot of tools/features have the same problem/limitation, nothing is sticky on this App, and depending on the task you need to do, you could literally waste a huge amount of time.
Far from being a professional and reliable software, specially on iPad.
If you developers could just listen to your customers once in a while....

2 yrs later and no signs of improvement whatsoever. It's more and more frequent see how they just don't mind to include important functional features even if they are clearly needed.
This App is a consistently deceiving when it comes to be considered professional and made for a real life production.

For architecture shots, multiple exposures to stack. Both focus merge or stack don't work with .aphoto files; they work with Tiffs, which is fine but I just wonder why not with .aphotos.

Just updated to 1.9 and still the same. Now after 2+ years on AP I got tons of projects (fashion/advertising campaigns for examples) that I can't delete just because it would take tooooo long for every project to empty the corresponding folders pic but pic to finally have the Delete option available. I don't have that time because my job is to be a photographer, I thought you made this software for ppl like me as well right?RIGHT???
Guys really....WHy WHY nobody care about improving simple things like these????

It looks to me (maybe I'm wrong) that is not possible to set some default settings to the crop tool. I'd like for example to have it always set on "Original Ratio" and with the "Darken Border" always checked, in order to speed up a basic process like cropping a bunch of catalog photos. I've found this intuitive option in every processing software I've used so far but can't figure it out here.
Any ideas? If such a thing doesn't exist for AP it would be awesome to have it ASAP since it'll speed up the workflow, especially when working on several images.

No, this setting is still not sticky. There's already an improvement request filled with the dev team but it's still open. I've bumped it to bring it up to devs attention.Just updated to 1.9. No progress.

Not sure if this will help but here is how I use Affinity Photo mixer brush the same way we use it in photoshop for skin retouching in a low frequency sep.
To make the brush act just like photoshop mixer brush I use the follwoing setting:
- Flow: set it to what's working for you. I use 13% for skin in photoshop and 3% in affinity seem to be roughly the equivalent.
- Under more: set wet edges to "Set wet edges 'on'"
- UNTICK auto load brush as this will continuously load the brush with the first color set on your color swatch. And make sure to clean the brush by clicking on clean brush.
- That way your brush will sample and mix colors base on each initial brush stroke.
- Strength 80% or to your liking.

Just turn on the "Auto Load Brush" button, then set the color you are using to 0% opacity. There, your blender brush is clean and still works pushing the pixels around on your canvas without having to bother with the "Clean Brush" option. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys I just updated to 1.9 and came back to this old thread to see if any solution was found. I'll try your methods this next days but it looks like is not really mirroring what PS does, or at least you're not happy with it. I'm on AP for 3 years now and specific important things like these are not really considered by Affinity, IDK why they just don't care.

I had the same problem and opened a thread a while ago. I now see someone else is having the same issue, and as him I tried everything, even after the update is still the same. As I said in my original thread, I'm lucky because I have an Ipad and I can send the files there through ICloud Drive but yet, I do that ONLY because it's impossible to use that tool on the desktop version without a crash.

I tried everything but the problem is still there and I still have to send the files to my iPad via iCloud Drive ONLY because of that. I'm just lucky to have another device to work on. I thought that it will be fixed with the update but didn't happen.

This feature is already present in the App version, on my iPad I find a little icon bottom left which apply the last filter used, it's ideal beacuse there's no need to go to some menu... I can't find that option in the desktop version though...

Technically, it's a real problem. Theoretically, you can believe it's not if you find it useful. We don't. If you don't see it as a problem, it's because you never retouch on real life situations or used this tool. You probably shouldn't be answering before doing that. Being able to build a photo software doesn't include by default being aware of what's useful or not for a photographer, that's the reason of a forum.

It's not ME, it's just a bunch of retouchers and photographers with more experience than the makers of this software, who are clearly simply requesting for something basic to be included because it's just weird not to have it, like programmers don't understand why is important. You should def listen to what people is listing here as missing features; through the whole forum the response to these issues is actually zero or, as in your case, mods are answering from a closed point of view "we do it like this and that's what it is".....looks to me like the Apple philosophy, take it or leave it.
Was not this all Serif thing about making a change in software market and create a better relationship with customers? So naive right...

HI.
Still need to find a way to set MIN pixel lenght for H or V sides on batch exporting; the only numbers you can write are meant to be the MAX size you want.
Example: I can decide the max values for H or V side so the final image do not exceed it, but what if I need the smallest side to be i.e. 1200px and having AP to do the rest? This option is intuitive and for that reason widely available on any other software I know so far...
It's quite a simple option that I can't see here on AP.

Hi, I quote this cause it's 2 years old and still no answers.
When clicking the 3 lines icon sometimes the only option available is Rename, on other projects I have the usual Save, Close, etc....WHY?

Looks like after 2+years we're still waiting for an update of this feature or at least some response from the support team, I looked around and couldn't find a recent thread about this.
I do a lot of fine retouching (skin, beauty, advertising) and everything related with brush (cloning, dodge&burning, healing, etc..) can't be done with accuracy. As users, I think we've widely shown our needs and interest for an urgent update of this feature, we'd like not to be ignored. If your goal is to create a professional editing app, then listen to the needs of those users who work in this business and suggests you how to improve it for real life projects.

Thanks MEB for the support, hope to see this feature on the next update. Also, a button to quickly invert the aspect ratio in between the 2 numbers (horizontal and vertical) would be awesome. Currently, if I select a standard crop of, i.e., 5x7 and I want a 7x5, I have to manually clear and re-type on both boxes. A single button (usually represented with 2 arrows going different directions) to invert them would speed up this tedious task.
