Hi guys, I've bought the new Canon M50 mirrorless but Canon's new .CR3 RAW file format isn't yet supported by your raw engine.

Do you have any plans to add it soon or will I have to do a tedious workaround for the foreseeable future?

It's the first time in the eight months since I've joined the Affinity revolution that I've missed Photoshop - Adobe RAW added it somewhere in April already.

As this is a beta it is considered to be not suitable for production use. This means that you should not attempt to use it for commercial purposes or for any other activity that may be adversely affected by the application failing, including the total loss of any documents. We would recommend using beta builds on copies of your Affinity files, not originals. Also files saved in 1.8.0 are not backward compatible with 1.7.3.

FYI, beta 1.8.0.486 on Windows, released today, says it has CR3 support.

Wilfried, Affinity tells us they're hoping to have support for .CR3 in Affinity Photo version 1.8.

We start whith a course Affinity and there is no support for the Canon camera's with CR3. The students ask me why not? What is the answer?

For the Windows version, we're looking at version 1.8 for CR3 support. Keep an eye on the beta forums to test it out when it becomes available.

Please look at supporting .CR3 files. Contrary to popular belief, Canon is still the biggest camera company in the world - and all their new cameras will use it.

I have recently changed my camera to a Canon M50 and now find that Affinity Photo does not support the CR3 files.  Is there a fix available for this?.

Currently I've got to convert my CR3 files to DNG before I can edit them in Affinity Photo. This is really inconvenient, I'd love to edit CR3 directly in Affinity Photo!

@Lee D any updates here? I have tryed the new 1.7.xx Version and this can't open C3 files. (Windows)

Really do need canon cr3 raw file convertor, have just cancelled CC and now have m50 camera, please help.

I was under the impression that 1.7 was going to include CR3 support. How come this still isn't working? Affinity literally advertises "Full RAW Development" on the Affinity Photo product page.

I have the same issue CR3 Support ist important because because  actually my work flow on my Windows10  PC is pretty messed up ... With the IPad version CR3 files are supported and it works fine as far as I can see at the momement. So why no support on Windows/MAC ?

Until we have our lovely new release Publisher firmly placed on the dock in the middle with Photo and Designer on either side.   Mine is already preordered, and I am so happy for you all at Affinity.  You have worked so tirelessly, so patiently, and so brilliantly to bring this to us.    Thank you again and again!!
