to answer this... You´ll be able to by it , when affinity decieds to let you by it......

Kroco , You are right, when you talk about simple images. But my company, is in architectural competitions all over the world, producing brochures with images alongside with floorplans, sections, side plans and so on. here , all the time, plans get positiond and scalled in a special way, and so exchanging them with new pdfs, vector based plans means changing only the content and not the size.. it realy makes sens, also to drop a new pdf on an existing imageframe with content. and here leaving the scale the way it was makes just sens and is totaly useful.. for example you scale your plan to show a special detail on your fassade ore the entrance only.. allways rescaling after import takes time...

MikeW, i did so .... .i think.... i doubleclicked my style, clicked on font and selected SimHei (it was arial in there).. now it works I start to understand, that making Pagelayouts in a professional way... needs more knowledge as i have thought...

Yes... somehow maybe its because of the Font.. also changing the font size.. from about 12pt to 24pt and updating it results in some hundret of beautiful squares.. hmm.

Hi Walt farrel, thanks for your answers, but somehow this doesnt work for me in this case... let´s see if i get this wrong. i create a new textframe, i go to my indesign doc. copy the text straigt away outof the text.. paste it inside of affpublisher in my textframe... Now the font, and look, is the same as in indesign.. now i decide this should be my body style i allredy have in the paragraph styles.. but when i now click on my paragraph style "body",my text in the frame instanly changes to those formating settings of the body... (which seems logical). ok.. other way around.. i click to my paragraph style "body"first! then select the text (to maybe be now able to take the textattributs from those text to the allready selected bodystyle. but now my paragraph selection switches to "no style", i wanted to tell the existing body style, to take the settings from the pasted text i copied from indesign.. third attemp.. i copied my text from indesign.. select the text and .. make a new paragraph style from this out of the box. and named it "body2" for example ok.. now i selected some words, changed the size from i think 12pt to 24pt.. but the result is, that all text changes to squares.. i just dont understand whats happening here.. maybe some problems coming from the font? SimHei which i first had to install on my computer.. (its a chinese text i cant even read.. )

Sorry, i dont find it.. i use the 133, but when i make a new guide, it just doesnt snap to my colums..

Sorry, but this whole Text style thing is somehow stil difficult to me.. Following problem. I had to copy some chinese text and english text from an indesign document to my publisher document to see if i could reproduce it and make styles of it.. First i had to install "SimHei" as a font, which was missing in indesign . Well that seemed to work.. I made textframes in publisher, copied the text from Indesign to publisher and made a new paragraph style from it.. than i try to make my headlines bold.. which worked fine so far, but when i tried to resave my headline style, the Chinese text is killed and i only get some squares.. hmmm.. So what do i missunderstand here.. is this a limitation of SimHei, or do i make something else wrong ? Ill put the screenshots..

allright thanks ill try this.. But what for example if i wanted to turn my "non style" to the "body", how can i tell body to take the attributs from my acutal pasted text ?

sure... that is what we could do, but its slower... when you allready positoned an image in a frame, it should be logical that you want to keep the size... its rather the usual workflow.. so publisher should understand that and enhance our workflow this way..

strg + shift + W does what shift w does ? tab takes away the interface... strg 0 zooms to windowsize.

Well in Textoptions i am still lost.. I just Copied some text from an indesign file, to my publisher textframe... Now, How can i tell Publisher to make a Style from this ? i just cant save the "No style" out to a Paragraph style.. sure i get everything wrong here, but how can i get it from indesign to publisher and reproduce my styles ?

absolutely asantos... Thats exyctly why i am here to look for my company in all details of this software, befor we even think of distributing it.. Forcing 500 Architects to work on a beta wouldnt be the best idea....

Well is this a bug ? not quite sure... well i try to reproduce an indesign document... and are even not ready. with this.. But look at the memory footprint of apublisher... i think there´s room for improvement..

we need something flexible.. I wished it could be something like a "Gridobject" that you can position and ask for 2 to x collums, and define the gaps as wished.. but also maybe more flexible.. so for example , you could neat one of those objects inside the other and also move colums by hand if wanted... hmm...

Well it exchanges the content of the one pdf by the new one.. but because they are both of the same size, i had expected, that publisher would knowtice this and remain the size and orientation of the old pdf

Hi I am not sure this is wanted.... I think its rather a bug ? When i have made an imageframe , positioned an image , in this case a pdf of a florplane inside, and i want to exchange it with new conted by drag and drop ! The new pdf file doesnt seem to remember the old settings of scale and rotation ....

1+ also...drag and drop of images to your assets... drag and drop shoud be in.. also the option to create a new folder by pointing to any directory on your hard drive... and.. to save the organisation of your folder and assetsstructure to several new publisher installations in a company at once...

Well Dominique... I also just struggeled , searching for a way to evenly distribute some images on my page.. horizontaly and also vertical.. While your aproach should work, its still a workaround.. What we need is realy something as show above , or something like a "Gridobject" you can free position on your page and even nest another gridobject inside.. untill now.. its slow, unintuitive and difficult to distribute your content on a page..

Hi everyone.. I just try to reproduce a longer Broschuere for my Architectural Company , to see how well Publisher fits ! So i tried to organise my images on the page, and i think it s not yet very intuitive.. for example i want to distribute 3 images horizontaly with a specific gap between. i tried for this to use a Table and than to snap my guides to it... which doesnt work.. I tried for horizontal distribution a Textframe with 3 Colums because here i can decide how big the gap between the colums is, but also here when i create Guides, i cant snap them to my Textcolums.. So maybe i miss something. But the feeling is , we need optical alignmenthelpers that is much easier than the existing Guides.. something like a Grid where i can snap to, but organise it as a moving object, where i can tell.. split this thing to 3 parts and make following gap s..
