I’d also like to chime in favor of an undo gesture. The UI button is a real speed bump in my workflow. 

Yeah I saw the undo and redo buttons. I find I don't use drawing apps (on the iPad) that don't have the 2-finger undo and 3-finger redo because I get frustrated I have to look else where do those simple actions. Doing so takes my focus off of the work at hand. Those gestures feel so natural, hard to do it any other way now.

I believe you are already aware of this, but just in case you don't there's an undo/redo button on the bottom right of the interface over the Help icon. I'm also used to these gestures from Procreate and other apps. Hope the dev team consider them as well. Thanks for your feedback.

Any chance of getting two finger tap to undo and 3 finger tap redo in the new iPad app? Pretty please? :)

I absolutely agree, the whole thing where an additional bar appears on double finger tap and you then have to select an additional option to undo is, frankly, stupid.  How would you feel if you went to copy/paste CTRL-C/CTRL-V on a Windows machine and instead of just copying and pasting, after hitting CTRL-C a menu popped up which spanned the screen horizontally.  You  then had to move the mouse and click COPY, then after hitting CTRL-V a menu popped up which spanned the screen horizontally.  You then had to move the mouse and click PASTE.
Getting the idea why interposing additional menus is not nearly as seamless as just double finger tap undo?  To me this is like asking McDonalds why they don't fire cook hamburgers like Burger King, the response is, "..oh they do it that way so we can't."

Yes, this would be great! Two finger for undo, three for redo, and we could have two finger long press for the other options :-)

In the drawing app for ipad Procreate, they have the gestures two finger tap for undo and three finger tap for redo. This becomes so automated and feels so intuitive and natural ! Could we please somehow get this feature for Affinity Photo for iPad?

YES PLEASE! This is a such a useful feature that I would literally use it every minute with this app. For users who have a pencil, it makes sense that the pencil is the only way to actually draw on the canvas. Fingers shouldn't act as a brush... they should be for UI interaction and panning/zooming.

Currently you can zoom the canvas with a two finger gesture at any time, and sort of use that to pan around as well, but it would be great for Apple Pencil users to be able to toggle pan mode ("View" tool) on and off for it to be permanently assigned to fingers and the other tools assigned to the Pencil. This way if we need to be zoomed in for precise Pencil work we can easily pan around using our fingers without having to swap tools and then can immediately get back to work with the Pencil. And if somebody wants to use the Pencil for the view tool they can always just select it. Toggling this on and off would still give us the option to use our fingers for other tools if necessary.

This is so obvious ! With this option you open all the gesture possibilities, like rotate canvas anytime, paning and zooming of course but also, undo/redo gesture. But you also think of contextual gesture like fading stroke while painting with one finger constantly press...
In many ways I feel this app is still "desktopish"
