Much like in Illustrator, you could also select one of the nodes of the inner path with the node tool. Then first ctrl + a to select all the other nodes on the inner path and then delete.

What you show there is an red filled outlined path and AFAI understand you, you want to get back a single line stroke path out of that one (like a center-line trace would give from outlines)?

I would like to throw in my vote as well that I really need DXF export. I, also, send my designs to a laser cutter and DXF is what the machine reads.
I am creating ski resort trail maps in Affinity Designer, then I jump through hoops to turn it into DXF, then I cut the vector lines out of wood sheets.
Hopefully, you will add this to your road map soon.
