Jeffreydah reacted to Frankentoon Studio in Frankentoon premium brushes - Texturizer Pro
    Hello everybody!

Just wanted to let you know that yesterday Frankentoon released a new brush pack for Affinity Designer called Texturizer Pro. It's a collection of more than 50 texture brushes for being used in Pixel Persona.

The brushes can be mixed together to reproduce a (super) wide range of real-life textures, from very subtle noisy ones to more extreme/destroyed surfaces. You can create super complex and organic looking results super fast and very easily. Here's an illustration I made using the pack (even works for text effects as you can see)

I've been working on this pack for the last 6 months. I spent like 4 months collecting textures with my camera, then selected the more suitable for the pack, edited in Affinity Photo and after a month of work within Affinity Designer, they're finally here!

Has been a blast to say the least. One of the most fun and exciting experiences in my life! So I hope you can have lots of fun messing around with your art too.

You can have fun with this pack too for only: $5.99

Jeffreydah reacted to Glyphs in Favorite Brushes Category
Could you give us a way to keep all the brushes in their respective categories, and to put the most used brushes in a Favorites category. If I am using frequently a specific brush from a specific artist, I would like to remember the category it comes from. If I just put the brush in a custom category, it disappears from its original one. The only way I have to do this is to duplicate a brush and put it in a custom category, but it would be easier to just right-click it and put it in a special Favorites Category without duplicating it. Ideally, there should also be an indication of the original category the brush belongs to in an Info button next to the brush, in its Help Tip, or in its Edit pane (with an option to lock the original and duplicate it if we edit it).

As you may know, we now have a few iPad Pros at Affinity HQ and will be starting to devote more time to developing versions of Affinity for it in the coming months.

They are incredible bits of kit, and we think—especially in conjunction with the Pencil (and Affinity when it's available!)—the iPad Pro will be a serious tool for creatives.
Want to get your hands on one? We're entering anyone who helps spread our amazing App of the Year news on social media into a free draw!   All you need to do is:   Follow us on Twitter and retweet this tweet   OR   Like our Facebook page and share this post   The winner will be chosen at random and announced on this forum thread sometime on Friday the 18th December.   Best of luck!   Kate

Jeffreydah reacted to Sarvasri in Brushes breadcrumb trail
I would like to see the brush identified somewhere. On the current Mac version, if I use a brush, then another tool like the lasso, and come back to the brush tool, the highlighting showing the current brush is gone. (It's not supposed to do that, it's broken)

Even if it were fixed, it's not enough. Highlighting is good, but a better method would be to show the category and brush name (plus the highlight). For instance, a box could show a breadcrumb trail similar to how it is done on some web sites and file systems. Then if I go to another category I would still know which category and brush is active. I could get back to it. Otherwise, I'm lost. (Especially, when the highlight disappears.)

Having to mouse over the brushes to get the name is also cumbersome. I have to mouse over all the them looking for one I might remember I liked. We should be able to see the brush names displayed in the panel without having to mouse over them. Apple is really doing us a disservice by hiding the user interface so much and making us have to go hunting to find invisible features. In the name of reducing clutter they encourage hiding useful interface options. Dumb.
