  1. Come on guys. Please put a "Make Selection" button onto the new HSL panel. Being able to make a selection of the colour range would make it so much more powerful. We would then be able to use all of the other adjustments and filters on the selected colour range. I'm not complaining. Just asking. Keep up the excellent work Or just send me the source and I will do it
  2. Here is the second volume of my Ten Top Tips for Affinity Photo. Hope you guys find it useful
  3. You have a good point though I have listed the topics in the description with quick links so you can go to any topic instantly. Thank you very much. I really love compliments. I am a very shallow person
  4. Haha. Well spotted. You are the first. I made the mistake of calling it a sheep once and then for a bit of fun decided to go with it. Saying sheep over and over again to see if anyone would notice. I took the picture at an alpaca farm. They really are super cute
  5. The luminosity shift in the new HSL control seems to be desaturating the colours. Just select any colour range and increase or decrease the luminance and the colours become black and white.
  6. Here I explain 5 ways to sharpen with Affinity Photo. I have also included a macro for download to help with one of them. I hope you find it useful.
  7. Thank you. The link to the macro is in the description about ten lines down. It says "Here is the link to the macro"
  8. Thank you. I'm glad you will find it useful.
  9. The macro link is in the description. I called it an "action". I have just changed the word "action" to "macro" in the description.

    1.7.0.209 HSL luminance problem

    I will need to check how Photoshop handles this myself. But it just looks broken to me. You really need to get Photoshop and test AP functionality against it. This is your only real competition. In the end it does not matter what the reasons for design choices are. If it feels wrong to the end user then it is wrong. Sounds to me like you may be being fobbed off by the programmers. I was as a programmer for over 35 years. I know all about fobbing off producers. You need a producer who is just as good as the programmers at programming

    1.7.0.209 HSL luminance problem

    Here are two files. One is the jpg I am loading to do the test and the other is a screenshot comparison between the beta and the last release version. As you can see from the screeshot. I am selecting reds on both and then reducing the luminosity to -100 on both. With the beta the reds are becoming desaturated. This happens on every image i try.
  12. In the fill dialog Edit->Fill, I can check the history option. It seems to use the history to perform the fill in some way. Does anyone know exactly what it is supposed to be doing? Cheers. Scott.

    edit->Fill history?

    Thanks Walt. You are correct. After further testing I have sussed it. It will grab it's fill information from the image as it would be at that point in the history. Cheers.

    edit->Fill history?

    But what is it actually supposed to do? I have had a play and am none the wiser. Are there any examples of what it could be used for?
  15. Here I have put together 10 tips for Affinity Photo. I hope you find them useful
  16. No problem I meant removing the shadows/ highlights radius sliders. I really hope this tool is not simplified to the point where it can't be used as well as it currently can. I really find the way it currently works to be very useful. I feel bad moaning about such an extensive update. Some of these improvements have really improved AP for me. especially the new colour range selection in the HSL panel. Keep up the absolutely great work.
  17. I am talking about the shadows/highlights "live filter". This starts at zero on the left for both shadows and highlights. And it definitely increase both when you move the sliders to the right. Maybe they are trying to dumb it down for the masses. Anyway. It is broken. The shadows/highlights "adjustment layer" starts in the middle.
  18. Affinity Photo can open Fuji X-T3 files. Adobe can't do this. Another reason to love Affinity Photo!
  19. The new shadows/highlights filter is now useless for me. The old one was great. Very adjustable. One of the best. I really hope the removal of the radius slider is not by design. Any chance of some clarification on this one please?

    Affinity Photo Customer Beta - 1.7.0.178

    The new HSL control is nice. Though you could give us more colour slots. Also when rotating the colour range the movement is quite jittery. Now you need to take this colour selection code from the HSL and create a new colour select panel where we can use this to select a colour range for editing. And also add a luminance range too. I don't know what the new live shadows/highlights filter is supposed to do but it seems to raise the shadows and raise the highlights too. Pretty useless.The old one was very useful. Please put it back.

    HSL panel

    I agree. When you want those fine adjustments being able to select the range and falloff are so useful for that fine tweaking. It would be useful to have this type of selection for use with all adjustments. For me, when I want to whizz through and quickly make tonal adjustments the LR tool is the best I've found so far.
  22. I think we could do with a HSL adjustment layer. Much like lightrooms HSL adjustment panel, where we could adjust the ranges with sliders. Photoshop has this as part of camera raw and it is a really powerful tool.
