kareldries reacted to redonwhite in some visible hairline that irritate
Hey guys,
I was pointed here by MEB from another thread about this effect. Adobe Illustrator really has this figured out, see below for comparison.
I think Affinity should move in this direction too, even simple work becomes challenging if you have to deal with these hairline fractures. Every drawing needs a labor-intensive extra step to be production-ready (my current workaround is duplicating offending objects a few times, works well unless there is transparency involved), and once you add all the extra objects you lose ease of editing.
Below is what it looks like in Ai
Of course, I have no idea how your anti-aliasing rasterization works, but my guess is you have to make some kind of a special case for edge overlap? Or maybe do rasterization on whole image instead of layer-per-layer basis? Or run some extra post-processing to make sure total alpha = 1 for every pixel?
Hope this gets some love in future versions!

kareldries reacted to HaroldL in Need to distinguish between Photo and Designer postings
I am new to Affinity Photo and sometimes like to read through the forum posts to glean as much info and insight to the program as possible. I am sometimes half way through reading a post before I understand that it has to do with Designer instead of Photo.
It would sure be nice if they had separate areas like the Beta section instead of all lumped together. (Photo on Windows, Photo on Mac, Designer on Windows and Designer on Mac).

kareldries got a reaction from WeekendProducer in some visible hairline that irritate
I would like to confirm that duplicating the same object on top does seem to fix this issue temporarily, which confirms it being an anti-aliasing issue.
Adding a thin inside stroke of 0.1 or 0.2 pixels of the same color as the shape seems to be a workaround as well.
Hopefully a real solution can be found, but I'm sure it is no easy fix.

Hey David, very nice work! I like the concept of a raving Icecream van and the color scheme matches the ice cream theme nicely ;)

kareldries reacted to MEB in Delete Selection [Affinity Photo]
Hi Macoun,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
That's because you are working with an Image layer type. Right-click on it in the Layers panel and select Rasterise... (to convert it to a Pixel layer). You should now be able to delete just the part you selected.
Image layers are considered an object layer type, like Text or Shapes and can only be transformed at a global level (scale/skew/rotate etc). To work at a pixel level you must convert them to a Pixel layer as described above. You can identify the type of layer you are working with looking at the label in parenthesis after the layer's name in the Layers panel.

kareldries reacted to Mickey Finn in Introduce Yourself
Hi All,
My name is David and I am a full time Retoucher/Color Sponsor with a large Printing and Marketing firm. For the last 12 years I have had a major retailer/cataloger for my sole client (outside of some freelance work here and there). I use Photoshop at work for 8-10 hours a day and touch 20,000+ images (including RAW processing of 1000-1500 location shots) a year. I have been following the development of Affinity Photo for some time now but have just recently purchased the app for personal use. Having been a subscriber to the Adobe CC since it's inception I really have grown tired of the cost and frankly have soured on Adobe as a company. I'm encouraged by the quality and capabilities of Affinity Photo and look forward to learning this new tool. It was the announcement and imminent release of AP 1.5 that finally gave me the incentive to end my CC subscription and purchase AP.
Best Wishes, David
