  1. This is frustrating. Why is it these simulations cannot just be added to plugins?
  2. It now being 2022, have any new or updated versions come to light. Running Monterey on M1 Mac mini might make some changes needed - I do not know anywhere near enough to guess. The web is awash with 'recipes' built ,'I believe', in camera and I have no inclination to use them. The use of simulations must be a simple thing by now?
  3. Is it possible to add Fuji Film Simulations as a plugin to AF Photo? My online research says yes, but I cannot follow the suggested method and it comes from a blog rather than a known company website. I recognise this mayn't be the first time this has been asked but a search has not revealed it.
  4. Does anyone print from AP with their own inkjet printer (mine is Canon 100 Pro). At the moment resorting to Apple Photo just to get a print the size I want but this is not good enough control for my purposes. ICC profile, ppi, exact size, paper type. None seem to be available from AP.. There is a large selection of ICC profiles in ColorSync (Mac mini) but nothing seems to work from the AP print menu.??
  5. My Pixma 100 Pro (just acquired) does not play well at all with AF.. What is the AF work flow to achieve a quality print (correct size, psi, ICC profile etc.) So far I have been unable to print anything from AF other than 3"x2" that appear on the A3 paper no matter what settings I try to use. The canon driver is the latest and ICC profiles are in the ColorSync folder but setup just does not make any sense at all.
  6. Very Happy with this way of doing things - seems to be a solution. My thanks.
  7. Can we see the original as well please?
  8. Liquify & In-painting good suggestion plus high/low frequency edit. Beware the neck stretch with liquify especially if there is a clothing neckline. Cloning from the original image to replace neckline as a rescue. Bring the jawline in with liquify to keep balance .
  9. Yup. I know. Still good idea. Think the lack of support may be a matter of number. eg. Not enough users to justify three streams on the site. Certainly, I would visit a bit more but I don't suppose there are enough Affinity users on the site committed to posting their work.
  10. No idea what this is about. Yes - thank you - we are the only ones though.
  11. I asked for "My Work" to be split AP/AD and now A/Pub. Just can't be bothered to scroll /search etc etc etc just to find a photo. worked in AP.. Lazy - who cares just not bothered. Other sites available.
  12. No one has ever left me speechless.
  13. Working for a printed output is different to backlit screens/web etc. The image produced in a digital studio/darkroom can and mostly is wrong until it is printed. Personally I over sharpen for web posting and this has been commented on, then when I have not done so the image has been 'critiqued' as soft. Go figure - I believe is the American response to this circumstance. My older inkjet prints are softer than I would like now but pleased the customer at the time. It is quite an expensive step but trial prints sent by mail for approval often save embarrasment. Oh as an aside. If your image is what you consider art then I think it is more a like/don't like response required and a possible reason. Personally my images drift towards the art side and away from the reportage or correct record of the subject so critiques no longer concern me. If I ask about a specific part or feel of the image it is usually to try and find a method that will give a closer representation of my intent (skill set improvement). Like/don't like good. Tell me what I have done 'wrong' NAH!. You have no concept of what I was trying to do - unless I have told ya!. Oh yer. Sellotape over the the end of a toilet roll was my first wedding filter. The bride did laugh (luckily) but also liked the result. That was one 40 years ago Hmmmm best forgotten.
  14. Will the software plug available with this printer work with AP? Simple question!
  15. Ta V Much - just needed a kick in the right direction.. It has been a long night
  16. For many, many reasons I am now running High Sierra on my MacPro. How do I re-install AF??? Quick help needed cos. work to do! Thank you.
  17. Is that true for the way I described my prospective usage. eg. UI on Eiazo and image on new 4K?
  18. To make AP more UI friendly - to me - I am considering adding a second display. Keeping the original Eizo EV2436W (1920x1200) so the the AP UI is easily visible to me and displaying the image I want to work on with a 4K 24" display as yet unchosen. My MacPro should run both of them with ease but I do not know if I can use the displays as I wish either from the Macs point of view or AFs? Using a larger (27') 4k would seem to be the solution but AFs UI is tiny without scaling and scaling kinda destroys the point of it usage for image quality. I always edit in a zoomed image, again to help with the eyesight difficulty hence 4K being my preference. I hope I have made the question clear. Any thought/knowledge passed on would be much appreciated.
  19. Oops! Should have read MP not MBP upgrade. A 24"4K display @ £300 + Aurora from OWC £300 less £50 for old ROM Plus AP being as good at Fuji files as I hope and I may be OK with that. Still a 6yo machine though?? It is getting a bit beyond me at the moment. A lot of these changes are a bit beyond my pay grade (as was). Used to be SSD+tons of RAM = everything. Now I can see on my screen dozens of recommended SSD varieties (exaggeration), GL/CL support and manufacturing incompatibilities coming from every direction. It maybe iMac is the way to go; or even just wait 'til something gives up and replace it (the old way)?
  20. Thank you gentlemen. My internet browsing is limited to 10 minute (approx) on BBC News - enough to realise nothings getting better. Followed by Affinity, Fuji, Macrumours ,Mac9to5 and my only weakness 'ello'. Hence checking in here for MBA thoughts. Perhaps Macrumours would have been a better bet? My other comment - well that is just me being paranoid as usual - sorry. As I get older and the money dries/dried up trying to keep a feeling of modernism in my photography includes being able to assure myself that the kit I use is up to date (desperate isn't it?). Obviously making decisions becomes more difficult the tighter the limitations until there is no choice at all. I think this year will be my last opportunity to make a reasoned rather than forced decision. So the MBA plus eGPU? is 'one' option; along with just change my display and upgrade MBP etc. etc.. There, all explained. So any thoughts always appreciated.
  21. Guess that answers my question!
  22. Anyone using this machine with AP. If so how is it doing and are you using an external display successfully?
  23. Is this just the continuation of AP not being able (fast) in handling Rafs? It has improved in Beta but is still not got that develop time down to where my old canon/nikon files where. They were larger file too. The Apple Engine is certainly usable especially for the non-pro but I would bulk at developing 100s of Rafs if I was still working to a schedule. Not being a digital-genius I really have no idea why this particular raw file type causes so much difficulty. Even 'Silky Pics' is difficult to watch churning through 5 or 6 images. The only time I have seen the develop process really fly was using the X-t2 to develop the images in camera. Very fiddly but fast. Ah well perhaps a huge jump in computing power will help after this weeks lottery . Bet the canon/nikon file will still be faster
  24. DUH! Is there a video instruction to do this? Guess my fear of layers kicked in. Forget that last bit. Just completed your way in just about a minute. Command J did not seem to work originally but got there in the end. I suppose I was just looking in the wrong place. ie:- using a printing dialogue as you would in publisher - instead of creating a new image in AP and then going to the print dialogue. As I said DUH!!!!! Afraid I am still prone and getting proner to these blank brain periods. Problem Solved.
