  1. I am teaching too prisca and agree with you. In addition to the user interface, I am glad being able to give my students one more valid alternative to renting their bloated (Bridge, anyone?), expensive software.
  2. Ideally, Affinity Photo would be fully compatible to all PSD-Plugins — some other applications are able to do that, so I think it's not an unreasonable thing to ask for. :-)
  3. Thanks for the reply ... didn't notice that there were several layers. :-)
  4. Hi, I would really like a feature that lets users choose which page of a multipage PDF to open or import as an interim solution until the multi-page feature is ready / unlocked / programmed.
  5. You can adjust the soze in the preference panel. I personally prefer the round big nodes — always hated those pixelsized miniature dots in Illustrator.
  6. Especially the last one is important: I personally did ask about a couple of features via Twitter and Facebook and a Staff member confirmed future development of "crop marks" and "bleed" features for the software -- both are so important for my work that they weight into my decision to purchase AD as soon as it comes out. So, a list of features planned to integrate during the promised free upgrade period could keep future users informed and might shuffle them towards a purchase as well. In addition, revealing the features in development will save some time because you don't have to confirm or deny the same request over and over. Dealing with features that are not on the list is easy as well: Just collect every wish, give it a good think and update your list from time to time. Tell people not to tell and / or push for something but to suggest the feature once and trusting in you that you will evaluate it. Alternatively you could create a voting form / page where all suggestions are listed and registered users can vote for everything they would use on a regular basis -- this could give you a good insight in which functions are most sought-after and could influence the order in which stuff is implemented in a very user-focussed way.
  7. Affinity files can be shared as they are with other Affinity users — I personally prefer an industry standard format like PDF because you can be certain that the recipient will be able to view it. If the file needs editing, people can just purchase Affinity ...
  8. Hi, just one of my crazy ideas … The hints about future feature sets, release dates, about that a lot of code of the three programs will be shared and last but not least the single file format lead me to the question in the subject line: Are "Publisher" and " Photo" going to be separate applications or will you publish a free viewer with all functionality being available as in-app purchase personas?
  9. Wow, great tip, thanks. In Adobe software this only switches the colours, but it doesn't switch to the option itself — gonna try it first thing tomorrow.
  10. Equally as many designers use OSX rather than Windows. ;-) Absolutely understand your aversion against CC (I am counting the days until the release of Affinity Publisher so I can stop my subscription), but there's lots of alternatives on Windows (Xara, Corel, Ragtime), wheareas the Mac market doesn't have as much professional graphic tools (yet). It would without doubt be nice to have the Affinity series on Windows as well, but if I were Serfic, I'd consider: - the likelyhood of needing to compromise functionality / speed to keep both versions on the same level - that Affinity might clash with their existing ...PLUS product line on Windows - the cost of developing and updating three programs for TWO platforms rather than one (more programmers needed, more time needed, MUCH more testing needed) I think the chances are currently relatively slim, but that might change after Publisher is out of the door (late next year) and Serif has time to think about their products and resources again. In short: I wouldn't start holding my breath earlier than spring 2016.
  11. Hi, I am really excited about Designer and one of the main reasons is the attention to details that's put into it. Just clicked the fill/stroke switcher and realised that I didn't need to search for it or to aim for the option I wanted to click on, because it has an accessible size in comparison to Adobe miniature icon. Well, done!!!
  12. Hi, just wanted to say that I LOVE the instant preview of the blend modes when hovering through the menu. Very impressive!
  13. Really like the predefined styles. I'd be absolutely marvelous to have some materials in there like gold, silver, plastic, glass and so on. I know it's a breeze to create them myself but . . . hey, this is a suggestions forum AND I am lazy. ;-)
  14. Hi, I find it relatively cumbersome to work with the different Studio windows, so here's a couple of suggestions (sorry for the harsh tone, I am tired after a long weeks work -- just imagine me politely requestion and suggesting the folowing ideas *s*): -- put them in a similar windows as the "snap" feature; easy to find, easy to open and easy to completely turn them on and off -- add a little button to close a studio panel completely -- add keyboard shortcuts for opening and closing specific windows (and put them in the menu, next to the windows name, similar to e.g. "File-->New Apple-N" so people can see the shortcut when clicking on the menu item and learn them over time To end on a positive note: I already prefer the panels snapping into each other and onto the edges of the screen to the behaviour of all Adobe iterations -- in this (and many other) aspects Designer feels more ,organic' and fluid than its competiton. Well done!!!!
  15. Hi, is there a list of all features and keyboard shortcuts available? Thanks, Jens
  16. Hi, I am currently starting to evaluate software for a three to five year project that's supposed to start mid-October. We are currently planning to use InDesign, but after seeing the impressive beta of Affinity Designer, I would like consider Affinity Publisher for this as a non-cloud alternative. Is there any chance of seeing a beta or getting a full feature list or a beta during the next two weeks? One of the most important features for this project is the capability of importing HTML and / or XML files and assigning style sheets based on the HTML tags -- if needed through a script, plugin or find-replace-macro. Any ideas if this might work e.g. when I can try pushing a sample file into designer? Cheers Jens
