  1. I think that is a good idea. So I did the same :-) So far none of these files or a combination of them made AD crash while in the background. I did a lot including fast zooming in Google maps and even rendering a video file. There is one thing different to the day of the dump files. Today the weather is rather mild while the last couple of days it was rather hot. This may sound unrelated but I had situations when computer crashes occured due to high temperature. I admit that those difficult occasions made the entire computer crash and not just one program, though. I'm sorry that I cannot be of more help. d.
  2. Since I am just working on a PDF document that contains only text I tried this and I can confirm this crash. d.
  3. I am not quite sure which one it was because I am working on two projects at the moment. It was most likely a rather complex one called "Besenbinderhof Logo 01-5" (dropboxlink 1, size is 47 MB) Perhaps it was a more simple one called "Wunderkerze" (dropboxlink 2) There is a chance that this file was open at the same time, too (dropboxlink 3). I just can't remember. I hope this helps. d.
  4. If you click "More Reply Options" towards the bottom of the reply area, at the bottom of the screen you will see an "Attach Files" option. Jon, thank you, I was blind :-) Attached are the files. d. crashdump.zip
  5. There are two files from yesterday: 0423dfee-71e0-47f4-93fd-59bde08e12d8.dmp and ec82be18-802d-40ee-8155-c8be1abe25ca.dmp Sorry for the question. How do I upload these files to the thread? d.
  6. Thanks for looking into it. It takes approximately half an hour of working with other programs without bringing AD into the foreground. d.
  7. Over the time of working with AD it happened that the program was in the background for some time. I mean to use other programs while AD is not closed. Out of a sudden with no obvious cause AD crashed. Did anyone else see this behaviour? It is very hard to replicate what was the cause because my focus was to something completely different. But perhaps its possible to collect hints on what is going on :-) d.
  8. Hi Chris, thank you for that explanation. Just yesterday I struggled with some nested layers where I was not able to edit a path in a mask. I was confused. You cleared my confusion unvoluntarily :-) d.
  9. This is correct, 'Unicode Text' does paste. But this can only be a workaround? d.
  10. Don't be confused. You are on the track to something. It could be a bug. Bug chasing is complicated :-) Let's see what the guys from Serif come up with. d.
  11. I can replicate this with keyboard shortcuts CTRL+C and CTRL+V. But if I copy text with the "right click menu copy" then it works. d.
  12. I think the difference is that if you start with a blank layer objects are added into this layer. If you start out without a layer objects are added as seperate layer themselves. And you'd have to organize these objects later into different layers if there is the need to. Neither is right or wrong it is just two different ways of workflow :-) d.
  13. I think it is supposed to work like this, it's not a bug. But you can work around this by creating a second donut shap with a hole exactly the size of the shadowed donat. Put this above and give it the fill of the background. This is not a mask exactly but it does the trick :-) d.
  14. To me this sounds like having an option in the general settings. That way each user could configure AD the way how she/he prefers to work. d.
  15. May I point you to a short conversation I had a couple of days ago with MEB: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/21448-snapping-aligning-to-objects-own-geometry/?p=102532 Perhaps the ALT+drag is on purpous in AD? Just a thought. d.
  16. Ah, ok. I searched the forum but couldn't find anything. Thanks for the corfirmation. Happy fixing :-) d.
  17. 1) Create a new document, type Web, size e.g. 1024x768, check portrait. Then click OK. The blank document opens. 2) Immediately open the document settings from the button on the toolbar. 3) Look at the size. It reads: Width 1024, Height 768 and the portrait checkbox is not checked. Looks like a bug? I tried this with a print document and same behaviour. d.
  18. I have to correct myself. It is not possible in Photoshop, either. d.
  19. Is it possible to paint a mask over a single or a group of layer effects? I know this is possible in Photoshop but I can't find a way to do this in AD. d.
  20. I think MEB explained it very good. Vectorshapes are different from pixel areas. It is worth in exploring this more. I find this basic explanation by Jen Lombardi helpful to get the idea. Unfortunately I can't comment on Serif Plus because I never used that program. Have fun with the Draw Persona of AD :-) d.
  21. Hi cct, welcome to the forum, I want to give you a very simple example on how to use the flood fill tool. In the Pixel Persona you first have to create a pixel layer. You do this by clicking on the page icon at the bottom of the layers studio that is left of the trash bin. Now you can click with the flood fill tool on this layer and it gets completely filled with the selected color. If you want to fill only a part of the layer you first have to use the selection tool (press M = marquee). Once you selected an area of the layer you then can fill that with color. I hope this gives you a starting point. Cheers, d.
  22. Hi Chris, thanks for clearing this. I personally do not need this as long as I know that it is not a bug :-) d.
  23. I understand. I had the Symbol Studio docked to the right side of the window so that it was wide enough in the first place. I undocked the Symbol Studio to try and see what you saw. By that I discovered that it is possible to narrow the width of the Studio to almost a vertical line. I think there should be some minimum width. The same applies to all Studios. d.
