Affinity won't open
spidermurph replied to Bob J's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Has anyone got a working solution for this issue yet? I have tried everything in this thread to the letter. They all used to work fine just the last couple on months that the problem has started. -

Affinity won't open
spidermurph replied to Bob J's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I have the same issue on a Win 10 laptop. Windows is up to date. The machine has a reasonable spec. And all other apps (Adboe, Blackmagic, Serif Plus) open fine. The Affinity apps will not get past the Checking for Updates stage. I have tried all the workarounds here. Has anyone been successful fixing this? -

AI generative Fill in Affinity
spidermurph replied to WMax70's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Yes, but not just Adobe. Black Magic, Midjourney, Wonder and many more. We work in the film industry and now jobs that would take weeks now take hours. Jobs are done so much quicker and can be invoiced sooner. Allowing us to be competitively priced and make a better income.- 461 replies

AI generative Fill in Affinity
spidermurph replied to WMax70's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Well for now we are making triple the money keeping us employed. I agree, many of us will be out of a job soon. But those who move with the times may keep their jobs a little bit longer.- 461 replies

AI generative Fill in Affinity
spidermurph replied to WMax70's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I hate to admit it. But, we have moved our studios back to Adobe. Our competition was running rings around us and we were getting left behind very quickly. With AI our workflow and creative output has tripled.- 461 replies

Is there any update on this. It seems to still be an issue.

AI generative Fill in Affinity
spidermurph replied to WMax70's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
AI is such a massive part software development now and this is the big deciding year. It is far from being limited to design software. As well as the amazing new features in Photoshop, we are seeing it creep into video editing, 3D and office software. By the end of this year we will all be using and relying on AI so much that we will wonder what we did before we had it. A good example is; Tomorrow I have a brief for a list of images I need to generate for a documentary we are working on. The list of images would normally take me a week to generate in previous projects. The ones I will make tomorrow will take a few minutes thanks to AI. AI will affect our lives in the same way as the internet did, only much quicker. If I was Serif. I would be looking for people to work with that could integrate AI into the suite. Rather than being left behind.- 461 replies

Vector Flood Fill
spidermurph replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
The one in DrawPlus makes a vector fill from a part of an imported bitmap image. -
Vector Flood Fill
spidermurph replied to Ash's topic in [ARCHIVE] 2.4, 2.3, 2.2 & 2.1 Features and Improvements
Just gave this a try. I thought is was going to work like the flood fill in DrawPlus but it only works on vectors. -

Gestures and Surface 8
spidermurph replied to AlexRad's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
After doing a little research. It seems that the Corel Suite also fully supports gestures and adaptive UI for touch on windows. So that is another option. -
Gestures and Surface 8
spidermurph replied to AlexRad's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I am also in a similar position with my Samsung Pro. Sadly there are no gestures supported. I have had to go back to Photoshop for now. -
Android version please

Yes please. Many designers use Samsung and other pro level tablets. -
V2 Pros & Cons
spidermurph replied to spidermurph's topic in Feedback for the Affinity V2 Suite of Products
Oh and another. No improvement to Studio Link. This is a great feature but it needs finishing. It only really launches from Publisher and has limited features within personas. -
Having used V2 for a short time I have a few comments on the bits I have tried. PROS The startup assistant screen is better now (almost as good as the Serif Plus one) The Export preview is much better (as good as the Serif Plus one) The Layers panel seems more versatile. The style picker seems quite good but not much different to Paste FX and styles that we had before. The Shape builder is handy (also a feature from Serif Plus range) but not much different to the boolean tools we already have. Vector Warp is nice. (also a feature from Serif Plus range) Knife tool is good (also a feature from Serif Plus range) CONS No bitmap trace (also a feature from Serif Plus range) No Mesh Fill (also a feature from Serif Plus range) No gestures for touchscreen users No flood fill tool (also a feature from Serif Plus range) No Blend/Morph tool No AI tools No 3D tools No Android support I know I bang on about SerifPlus products. But they were made by this company and had many of these features over 10 years ago. I know the Affinity range is built on a new engine and has to accommodate Mac and iPad now. But we have been waiting for 8 years for Affinity to catch up with features, they and most other software have had for years. I'm hoping we see some of this appear in updates very soon.
