Mmh - it kinda works - but you need to flip the result vertically:
Maybe upload an example file of your choice.

Ah, so your "just in case" hint to the available smooth option was rather a hint to the Serif developers to remove its auto-smoothing of straight lines from its exports (… or, if needed, offer it as an export option, and maybe as as preflight check for PDF export).
Actually, no - first I was misguided by the title, which should actually be called: "Don´t export to SVG with less nodes than the original"
Then I thought the tip I once figured might be helpful for one or the other, but Affinity Designer´s export should not affect the number of nodes at all, unless it is an option like "Create small file" or "Delete redundant nodes". I don't want to be force-fed. (Ich möchte nicht zwangsgeglückt werden.) -

I absolutely dig your needs - as I said Affinity Designer is the only SVG editor in my portfolio doing this "unwanted" optimisation.

... the OP want's to keep all nodes on SVG export – not get rid of 'unnecessary' nodes or smooth a curve. Maintain complexity, not simplify it.
What is not available in Affinity Designer and which I´d call a bug because my other 5 SVG editors keep all nodes intact on subdivided straight paths on export as SVG.
Just showing how to reduce amount of nodes without loosing fidelity; though I said "just in case" .....someone needs this.

Ah I see: better now for me:
Ok: So the question about the appearance of the nodes in the first video still remains.
-
I know it´s the Node tool but why there are 2? At least I didn´t know and still don´t know we could change it. The upper Toolbar yes - but not the left one.
-
I´m confused by the appearance of the selected nodes and not able to recreate the behaviour from the first video:

@JimmyJack More features?
@jefferis You want to import your image and go Path->Trace Bitmap->Multicolor choose Color from the drop down - Have a good play with the settings.

It works on Mac/Intel or ARM - otherwise I hadn´t suggest it. Inkscape user on Mac since 2003 speaking here.

Not sure why you´re not trying by yourself. I´d say it´s working even with parametric shapes:

That ain´t gonna work in Affinity Designer. The centreline autotrace looks awful. Better do an autotrace for a color filled shape -then back in Affinity Designer go Layer->Geometry->Separate curves. Send the outer path to the background and color fill the inner shapes to your liking.
