  1. It's too late for that kind of change now. Try Babel Map — it's much better than Windows Charactermap
  2. I added character variants to some of my fonts such as Odana. They work fine in PagePlus X9, but not in Affinity Designer. The other OpenType features seem to be working, but Character Variant cv01 is the only set available. The feature uses a "one to many" glyph substitution. lookup CharacterVariants { sub asterisk -> [asterisk asteriskmath uni2051 uni2042 uni203B]; sub plus -> [plus uni2795 uni271A uni271B uni271C]; sub at -> [at uni260E uni260F uni2121 uni213B]; sub copyright -> [copyright uni2117 uniF000 estimated uni2139]; sub multiply -> [multiply uni2715 uni2716 uni2717 uni2718]; sub dagger -> [dagger uni2622 uni2623 uni26A1 uni2620]; sub daggerdbl -> [daggerdbl uni26A0 uni2691 uni26B0 uni26B1]; sub bullet -> [bullet uni204D uni2023 uni2767 uni2712]; sub blackcircle -> [blackcircle newmoon waxingcrescentmoon firstquartermoon waxinggibbousmoon]; sub circle -> [circle fullmoon waninggibbousmoon lastquartermoon waningcrescentmoon]; sub uni2600 -> [uni2600 sunrise uni26C5 uni2602 uni2603]; } Frame Text.afdesign
  3. I'm off to greener pastures.

  4. If you're not going to listen even when the obvious is stated many times by loyal Serif users who have been using your products for decades there seems little point in porting the Affinity products to Windows. Just insist that everyone buys a Mac and concentrate your efforts on improving the Mac products. Parity of feature sets and file formats is essential for document exchange. For ease of adoption for Windows users, parity of shortcuts, GUI themes, menus, and studios is important. Most of it is already there, it doesn't take much effort to rearrange a few menus or modify shortcuts. I also doubt if it woult take much effort to provide menus sets since Personas already do this. You could have a DrawPlus Persona as the default and a Mac persona for those weird folks who use two different Operating Systems in the same office. The great strength of Serif's Plus series of products is that if one knows how to use one, e.g. PagePlus, one can pick up DrawPlus or WebPlus and be using them comfortably within hours rather than days or weeks. Users have been asking for a long time for even greater parity between the Plus series products re Quick Shapes, etc., so that it's easier to switch back and forth between products.
  5. The Table of Contents should disappear as soon as you select a topic. Doesn't that happen for you? I think the idea is not to show the TOC at all unless you need it. That's good design, allowing all available space for reading the topic. In Windows Help files there is a button to show/hide the TOC tab. It shown by default, so you (and many other including me) never hide it, but you can if you want to concentrate on reading the topic.
  6. If you want to sell this Windows product to Windows users, it's more important that users switching from DrawPlus are comfortable with the new app. Honestly, what proportion of Mac users do you think are going to be buying the Windows versions of the Affinity Products? Anyway, you can easily solve this dilemma by providing shortcut profile files so that users can suit themselves.
  7. Shortcuts are user-definable in Preferences, Keyboard Shortcuts, but it's quite a lot of work to set them up, so a default shortcut profile compatible with DrawPlus should be provided. I modify my shortcuts in DrawPlus/PagePlus/WebPlus too because the defaults of Ctrl Shift Up/Down can too easily nudge an object up/down if the shift modifier is not held properly, and the slight movement may not be spotted. So I use Ctrl + Shift + PageUp/Down for bring to front/send to back, and Ctrl + PageUp/Down for Forward One/Back One.
  8. I suspect that it's a bug or a missing feature. I have only one monitor, but the Windows Key + Left/Right Up/Down keys function as one would expect.
  9. In my opinion, what was used last time is irrelevant. 1. If nothing is selected it should default to whole document 2. If something is selected it shoudl default to the selection
  10. Agreed. It will be confusing for Windows Serif users. This is the kind of thing that should have parity with other Windows products, not the Mac version of the Windows product. As I pointed out elsewhere. only a few Serif Windows users will buy a Mac to use Affinity Products, and not many Mac owners who use Affinity Designer will also buy Affinity Designer for Windows. The best of all options, of course, is to allow users to customise the menus. That belongs in the Feature Requests forum, but this lack of parity with Serif's Windows products should be considered a bug. The same goes for shortcuts. The default shortcuts should match Windows applications, while there should be an option to select a Mac compatible keyboard.
  11. As said above, export as SVG or PDF. Both will open in Affinity Designer. Any lossless bitmap formats (e.g. PNG, or TIFF,) could also be used at high resolution to ensure the greatest fidelity, but of course you would then lose any benefits of using vectors.
  12. I use 125% windows scaling. I can get the Studio to be cut off by resizing it when it is not docked. If I disable the Studio from the View menu, then re-enable it, I can again resize it.
  13. This issue seems to have been overlooked. It is a major bug. If, for example, I open a WebP file and export it as a JPG, it still has an extension of *.webp but it's actually a JPG image. Although it's a JPG image, I cannot attach it to this forum, because the extension is incorrect. Affinity Designer will still open it, and if I export it again, it asks me if I wish to overwrite it, although the file is not listed in the Save as dialogue. If I open it in IrfanView, that detects that the extension is incorrect, and offers to rename it for me.
  14. That may be on a par with the MAC version, but it compares badly to the number of brushes in DrawPlus, which has ten categories with about 200 brushes in all. I was expecting a similar range of brushes to be included in Affinity Designer.
  15. The link to the video is broken. I think you will find only a few brushes are included in the Beta version to reduce the download size.
  16. Hi dth, welcome aboard the beta testi. Most of the threads in this forum are going to be bug reports. It would helpful to use a descriptive title. I cannot reproduce the issue here using the last build 1.5.0.5. It takes only one click. If you can attach the drawing to your post, it might be document specific.
  17. The acute and grave accents are working OK for me in build 1.5.0.5 but there are other issues, which I reported in this thread.
  18. I can confirm the issue with resizing the panel. When I first enabled it, the Studio was collapsed to its title bar and could not be resized (the Symbol Studio suffers from the same issue). On restarting AD I could reszie it OK, then after using it, I could not. The icons are so grey I did not figure out that they were icons at first. Only after clicking them, they become active and more visible. They have no tooltips, so I don't know what they should do. I guess I will have to read the help file.
  19. OK. I had to expand the Symbol Studio to see the toolbar to create a symbol. Then I could reproduce the crash by dragging the Ellipse in the layers tab.
