  1. Not sure if this is a bug or intentional design, but groups no longer show thumbnails. Example screenshot to demonstrate why this might not be a helpful change. The new visibility marks are also unintuitive.
  2. This has been documented in previous threads, but still exists in 2.0. Behaviour: Click to add a point with the node tool, then quickly click again to move it. In 1.8.3 and earlier, this worked as expected, but in all versions since, nothing happens. The program seems to recognise the process as a double click instead of two quick single clicks, even though there is no action - set or customisable - from double clicking in this manner. Previous bug report threads on the bug (now in archived forums):
  3. As of 1.10.0.1127 beta, the node tool is still broken. It's now been a full year and many new versions since this bug has left me stuck on 1.8.3.
  4. I've been trying each new version too and the issue still exists as of 1.9.2 beta. What I don't understand is how barely anyone seems to have noticed or been affected by this. This one bug immediately makes the program almost completely unusable for me. Do other people just not click to add and immediately try and move nodes? Or is it some sort of software conflict only affecting a few people?
  5. I posted awhile ago about an issue with the node tool introduced in 1.8.4, and as of this latest beta, the issue is still there for me. (The issue is that clicking a node and then clicking to drag it is now recognised as a 'doubleclick' that does nothing. Video in the thread.) We're multiple versions later now, so I'm wondering if this is something that's planned to be fixed in the future, or if it only affects a few people, or whatever. I'm honestly surprised I couldn't find anything about it, because it's made all versions beyond 1.8.3 completely unusable for me, which is a huge shame.
  6. In the latest full release (1.8.4) double clicking seems to suddenly be recognised as a thing by the program - even though double clicking with the node tool doesn't actually do anything. Usage / reproduce: Make a line with the pen tool, switch to node tool (a), click to add a new point, then immediately click again to start dragging it. In 1.8.3 this works perfectly; in 1.8.4 it stops dead without dragging. If I do the same clicks slowly, it works as normal. Same with clicking to select an existing node and immediately clicking again to move it (although in that case you can just click and drag in one motion, the behaviour has still changed.) I couldn't see anything about it in the release notes or settings, but I may just be blind. Seems like a bug, or at least a change that's made it unusable for me, so I dropped back to 1.8.3 for now.
  7. Just want to +1 this. I don't even care about the variable width stuff, but right now I'm trying to use MS' Bahnschrift font and all of the different font weights display Normal instead of the actual font weights. I'm guessing the weights are now programmed instead of each weight being staticly available or something?
  8. Thank you - I had no idea which forum it belonged in. They don't need preset shortcuts or anything, but having the ability to bind any command to a key is very much appreciated. So far as I know all the menus and tools have them; it's just some of the tool context menus and those commands get used a ton.
  9. Is there a way to set shortcut keys for the node tool actions (convert: sharp, smooth, smart, action: close curve etc.) In the shortcut setup there is a section for the node tool, but it only has the break and join curve operations there. I'd normally assume it was impossible but having those two there makes it look like the rest are meant to be and just haven't been added yet? Or is the way to do so elsewhere and I just haven't stumbled across it yet? I'm enjoying using the program more and more but having to click every time I want to convert a node is kind of jarring.
  10. I'm not sure if this is a bug or intentional (but sadly missing) If you lock a vector element, it's no longer selectable as expected. However if you lock a raster element (such as an imported reference image) and lock it, clicking on the artboard still selects the raster image, even though it's locked and not editable. Since it tends to make new vectors no longer be on the layer you were working on as well, this gets really annoying. The only other things that I don't like at the moment are the relatively unfriendly palette window (some of its features are nice but it's not very nice to edit or rearrange colours etc.) and the lack of option to adjust the amount of smoothing when using a pen (which is really tragic.) On the bright side I'm not having the issue of keyboard shortcuts randomly dying or any other crashes anymore since this version.
  11. Having a lot of trouble with the swatch panel (and the stroke/fill selector above it.) Quite often as soon as I start drawing again with the pen tool it'll forget the fill colour that was set, and then using that top right stroke/fill tool to set a colour will do nothing; it has to be set via the stroke/fill on the top menu bar before it'll take effect. Also consistently refuses to add a current fill to a palette, choosing instead to use a past one (probably connected to the former issue.) No ability to drag and drop and very limited functionality with managing the palette window doesn't feel very good (not a bug just general feedback.) Messing around with the above a bit crashed the program a few times for me, at other times it's just really sluggish for no reason. Unrelated but at one point using the a tool I lost all keyboard shortcuts, though the commands worked via dropdown menu and keyboard commands like alt still worked (but not undo delete etc.) Haven't figured out how to duplicate this so just adding it as a side note for now~
  12. Thanks, and yeah I figured that but it'd be nice to have. Still yet to encounter any bugs. As it stands from the first day of testing, I would buy it even without any further updates (assuming similar to mac pricing.) There's a lot I'm impressed with, but also a few things that Illustrator just does more nicely (swatch + chord management are big ones here, no real drag functionality etc. in swatch menu makes me sad.) Expand Stroke seems to create a considerably messier path than necessary (17 billion nodes for a simple curve) - not really a problem, just an observation. Will keep testing.
  13. My first impressions have been pretty positive. As someone who mostly draws using the smart curve pen tool thing in Illustrator, the smart nodes feel very similar as do most other controls. I was really surprised to see so many install / bug issues in threads as I had zero problems. I really like having the tooltip help at the bottom of the screen. One question: it says "drag + \" for several commands... a. This key is in the middle of nowhere - can I change it? I didn't see anything for it in preferences, but I also don't really know what I'm looking for when it comes to modifiers. My hand is pretty much always in the left alt / space area. b. I haven't been able to make any of the "drag + \" commands actually do anything noticeable. Edit: The only other thing bugging me right now is that handles don't seem to obey snapping. The snapping for nodes is great, but lacking it for handles is painful.
