selah2012 got a reaction from malyKeri in How to see objects outside of canvas
Hello,
I have a quick question. How do I see the objects outside of the canvas? Whenever I drag the object off the canvas I cannot see it anymore. I know about clip/unclip but I don't want the objects clipped onto the canvas. Hope my question makes sense! Thank you!

Hi selah2012,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
There's no way to see objects placed outside the canvas in Affinity Photo.

If areas outside the canvas are not intended to be seen they should not show up in the layer thumbnails as they did for me. See another thread for details: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/42088-layer-thumbnails-produce-irritating-ghost-artifacts/

selah2012,
Normally vector apps, like Affinity Designer, have the ability to place objects off the canvas and to be able to see them and access them. Affinity Photo is a raster based application and traditionally in programs that are raster based, you aren't able to do that.

selah2012 reacted to Craig Deeley in AD Textured brushes, Monet strokes
Attached are a set of AD Textured Intensity brushes made from actual brushstrokes from the famed painter.
Usually I would not try to make strokes so literal. Nor would I borrow from such a famed source.
In that sense these strokes are a bit of a digression for me.
These are examples of brushes that use real strokes almost exactly. They carry the texture and variety of their source. Thick, skittering oil paint, and swashes of thinner oil run over uneven surfaces.
I have become more and more a digital painter... but I love the texture of natural media. I find myself drawn to digital emulation of natural media. Or emulation perhaps of the texture of natural media - with a digital twist.
I have never deliberately tried to make a textured brush for such applications as Photoshop, Expression3, Synthetik Studio Artist or Affinity Designer - that looked exactly like a natural media brush stroke.
The idea seems a little too in conflict with what makes digital art potentially its own (great) thing.
However. These are very nice, heavily textured oil paint strokes. Great for bold paint looks.
Enjoy.

selah2012 reacted to smallreflection in Steam Court painting
Thanks for the feedback, all! Penwiper, good thoughts, I'll probably try to get some of those in revisions. Test prints came out a bit dark too, so I might play with tonal values a bit also.
Without giving too much away, here's another in-progress character piece from the set, with some slight stylistic differences (some folks said they preferred earlier sketched versions of the characters, so I'm testing out some subtle outlines and sketch elements along with the original layers.
Penwiper, the game is coming to Kickstarter soon, so you can follow us at SteamCourt.com until it drops. It's super fun, I can tell you that. :D

Hi selah2012,
Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
In the Layers panel on the right of the interface you can expand the layer clicking on the small arrow on the left of the thumbnail to access all objects contained inside individually. Select the object you want and then change its Blend Mode on the top of the Layers panel to Lighten.
