  1. Yes. You get metallic gold with PANTONE and other color systems.
  2. Hi, I know this of topic but I would like to know what CMYK/RGB values you use to print gold color not using CorelDRAW definition, PANTONE or any other color matching system. Thank you in advance.
  3. Maybe you will find this article interesting. Please, read it to the very end: http://www.dpiphoto.eu/dpi.htm
  4. Hi guys, Just to clarify something. The resoultion of the image is its size (e.g. 4000x3000 pixels) and dpi means just how many dots are packed in one inch. More dots -- better quality in printing. :)
  5. As you can see from the attachment, only "Layout" and "Type" menus (and few panels) are those that make the difference between the layout and vector kind of apps. So, if you and the others insist in puting some Publisher features into Designer and Photo, there would be no need from Publisher, because as you can see there are already some of them into Designer and maybe in Photo (but I am Windows user so I don't know that).
  6. Thank you R-C-R, but I think you are too much worried about others. Let them have their own experience. it is the best way to learn. What are people risking using beta software? Their lifes, their computers could be broken in two parts? So what if they lose some file? Even the "old" software like InDesign, Quark and others can be "dangerous", too. Have you ever read any software agreement when instaling it?
  7. Oh, that. I thought it was something more serious. You scared me. But that it OK. Not everthing in life is perfect. :)
  8. No, I don't know what happened with Publisher.
  9. And it will be at... (date)? :)
  10. Hi, I am sorry I didn't mentioned. Yes, I am asking for Windows version. I can't wait (and not only me, I suppose) to start using Photo, too.
  11. It will help me when I will build a house. Not now. :) I asked this question because they said that Photo Beta will be released immediately after the final version of Designer. So, I got an impression that they don't want both betas to be released at the same time.
  12. Hi, why do we have to wait for Photo beta? Why you can't give us now? We want start using it ASAP. :(
  13. Linked picture will be updated (auto or manually depends on your settings into apps) if you change it or replace it with another one bout with the same name as previous one.
  14. When you embed the picture you put it completely in the document so you can freely delete it from the disk, it will be there. But, the disadvantage of this method is that the document becomes very big in MB and slow to work with. When linking, you just give the app (InDesign, Designer...) the path were the picture is and you see only the picture preview in the document which is about few KB and it doesn't slow your work. If you delete (or rename, or move to another folder) the picture from the disk you can still see the preview of the picture in the document but if you try to print it, it will be printed in 72 dpi.
  15. Maybe it is better to organize voting for most wanted features and then you can see what feature has more priority.
  16. Hi, I've just recalled my memory. Xara Designer has one interesting feature. If you import more copies of a picture only one of them increases the file size. Like, the picture is 1MB and you copy it inside the document for 10 times, the file is only 1MB big, not 10MB. The question is why you should need so many copies of same picture? You can apply effects, filters, blends... Is it an interesting feature for Photo, Designer...?
  17. http://www.pl32.com/index.php I work with PhotoLine. It is very small (cca 60 Mb installed), you ran it from a stick, all-in-one app... DTP and vector features are not as developed as bitmap, little bit confusing...
  18. The one-and-only was Calamus (Atari, PC) https://www.calamus.net/calamus/features_rip.php, not iCalamus (MacOS). The main idea of the (i)Calamus team is to build main application and then wait for third party software developers to make plug-ins for them. The main app is not so expencive (cca 100 EUR), but with plug-ins the PC version is 2000+ EUR. It is all-in-one app: bitmap, vector, DTP, even soft RIP [ Calamus SL owns a very save technology for output of complex publishing documents: SoftRipping®. This way Calamus prepares each single dot of each single page in your Calamus computer. Output is not controlled by external PostScript RIPs in your laser printer, typesetter or a digital RIP in China. Screen output and print output in Calamus uses the same engine (with different output hardware resolutions, of course). So Calamus offers real WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) in the physical resolution of your output machine or even higher resolution. This garanties a new quality in production.]
  19. Yes, I also heard about it recently, few months ago on this forum, even I am in this business for 20+ years.
  20. It would be very nice if the Affinity team decides to include some of the VivaDesigner features. Some of them are extremely nice abd usefull. vivadesigner7-comparison.pdf
  21. Yes, I totally agree with you. IDML is used to convert all new InDesign file formats to the previous versions. So, if implemented, all InDesign documents would be easilly converted into Publisher.
  22. My opinion is that they are going to release both versions (Mac and Win) in same time.
  23. Just as bitmap features. This way all apps wil share over 50% of same code like Serif's ...Plus apps. And, BTW there are rumors the the Earth IS flat. :)
