  1. It is possible to select all the endnotes for any position except End of Story. When End of Story is selected, each note is in a separate text box, and only one note can be selected at a time. Why is this? It's not possible to select all the notes to, for instance, apply a paragraph style that hasn't been properly imported from a Word document.
  2. No point in asking really since it can't done from a Publisher Book file, which is what I've got. I will just leave it off.
  3. The page information in a pdf when output from a Book restarts the page numbering for each separate file in the Book. The actual page numbers are fine.
  4. Thanks. I'll report it as a bug. Are they fixing bugs these days?
  5. I don't understand this. I am opening the pdf in Adobe Acrobat Reader. Pdfs for sending to printers are supposed to include page information.
  6. By "every file in the book" I mean every file which is included in the book file. The point of the Book is to amalgamate all the files or chapters. It works fine for everything except outputting the page information in a complete Book pdf export.
  7. One complete file using the "all chapters as pages" option in the export. The only problem with it is the page information which could be very confusing to a printer. There would be multiple page 1s in the book file according to the page information. The only solution I can see is to omit the page information altogether.
  8. The page information says this is page 34 bit it's actually page 104. The first page of this file in the book is shown in the page information as page 1 even though it is page 71. It restarts the numbering in the page information at page 1 for every file on the book. I'm wondering if I have missed a checkbox somewhere. The page numbering itself is fine.
  9. When I export a book file to pdf everything is fine except the page information. It restarts the page numbering for each chapter in the information. (The actual page numbers are fine.)
  10. How do I make a chapter start on a left hand page? I don't know how to do that. Publisher automatically starts a new file on a right hand page.
  11. By the way, the book I am working on has facing page introductions, then runs of facing page translations running down the left or the right with endnotes on facing pages directly after the text in each chapter. It's really too complicated to have as a single file.
  12. I have shown here that page 6, the first of chapter 2, starts on a right hand page despite being an even number, and therefore all the subsequent running heads are wrong. When the Book file is output as spreads, page 6 is shown as a single (right hand) page, and all the running heads in Chapter 2 are wrong. The only problem when outputting to Pages, is that the running heads are wrong. Page 5 is a right hand page, page 6, the first page of chapter 2, is also a right hand page. I have managed to fix it for now because my offending chapter is only two pages, followed by a single page concordance, so all subsequent chapters start on right hand pages. But it could be a big problem for somebody to have the running heads all wrong just because a chapter starts on an even page. The old typesetting norms did have chapters starting on a right hand page, but that is old hat now, and it shouldn't be mandatory in Publisher. 13. Publisher Book does not allow a chapter to start on a left hand page. It will number the pages correctly in that the first page of the chapter will be, say, 430, but it will be shown in the Book file as starting on a right hand page.. And the running heads will be all wrong. Page 431 will have the left page running head. This is a bug and needs to be fixed.
  14. Say you have chapter 1 starting on a right hand page, with 11 pages. Chapter 2 will start on left hand page12 in a Book. When exporting Spreads to pdf, you will get page 12 on its own (not part of a spread), and page 13 will be on the left side of a spread. Then all subsequent pages will be on the wrong side of the spread. Is there any way of making a book output as spreads to a pdf without always putting the first page of a chapter on the right hand side, despite the page number being an even number?
