Hi, Walt. Ahhh ! That's what you get for being hasty.... Annotation to the above post : I swapped both : neither works. -
1.9.0.3 bug - unable to apply Vector Brush
catlover replied to lepr's topic in [ARCHIVE] Designer beta on macOS threads
I hit upon the same problem. With Designer Beta in Vector persona using the vector brush as well as the pencil tool. It works fine in the MAS version, with both the Vector brush as well as the pencil tool. I've tried to swap the Beta raster brushes-procol file with that of the MAS version, but that did not solve the problem. Also, the propcol files of the Beta version are huge (see pics, propcol & Backup1), while the propcol file of the MAS version is only 7kb (backup2). P.S. : And I do have a lot of raster brushes loaded in the MAS version. Thanks for looking into it ! Keep safe !!!! -
I've added a deckled edge frame for use in Photo. It is a Vector frame, created in Designer, Size = 8x10" 5:4 (203x254mm / 1200x1500px). Copy the file to your picture in Photo and edit / resize to suit. Feel free to improve. DeckleFrame 8x10.afdesign

Deckled Edge

I've tried to create a deckled edge frame. I put the result in the Resources section. Hope it may be of some use. -
AfPh & AfD:Measurement dialog textbox-no comma input
catlover replied to catlover's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Thanks, OldBruce. I've got the OS prefs set to European, e.g. grouping point, decimal comma. I haven't experienced similar problems with other graphical software. -
AfPh & AfD:Measurement dialog textbox-no comma input
catlover replied to catlover's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
I have no idea how come this video is pasted twice. Couldn't delete it, either. Sorry about that ! -
The measurement dialog textbox-input does not accept a comma as decimal separation, even though the measurements in Prefs are set to the metric system. This happens in Photo as well as in Designer, MAS version & latest Beta versions. As soon as the cursor gets near the decimal separation, which starts out as a comma, see video, it changes into a point. And no, there's no question of a typo ! . I really did type in a comma. Keyboard set to US English, by the way. It is especially noticeable when changing from metric to say, pixels, because in that case you practically always end up with decimals. This might be by design , but it does seem a bit odd. And it happens in ALL measurement textboxes. Attached a little vid to show what I mean. Thanks for looking into it. C.L. My 2-cents worth. I'm not an expert like my esteemed forum collegue Garry, but... When I look at the text circle, it seems to me that the text has a narrow white shadow behind it. That in itself is strengthening the fuzziness : e.g. the outlines are not sharp to start with and the smaller the scale, the more fuzzy the text will show. Have you tried to just use black text without the shadow ? Or am I putting my foot in it ??? Best of luck, C.L.

I downloaded the Auto FX GRFX studio Pro-Ai software trial. This works as both a standalone & plugin. According to Auto-FX's Specs it should also work as a plugin for Affinity (as specifically stated in the specs). Sadly, I can't get it to show up in the Filters dialog. Tried various path entries - automatically ( /, full path desciption ) but nogo. Anyone has any ideas, please ? Thanks in advance

Deckled Edge
catlover replied to Deckled Edge's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
There are some tutorials out there, mainly for Photoshop, but possibly adaptable for AfP. AutoFX software has a deckle-border filter in a software suite, but it is not free. -
Thanks Old Bruce. Don't spend too much time on it - I guess it just isn't possible. Logically speaking I think it would mean that the program would have to perform this (but I might be wrong, I'm not a programmer) : Select all curves > process each individual curve into a pixel layer. You'd have to have one hell of a processor to get through that lot in any reasonable amount of time. Or maybe the programming involved would be extremely complicated - who knows. anyway, thanks for your answer. Best, Catlover

Hello, all In Photo 1.8.4. (Mac) : Please have a look at the attachment : I've been trying to rasterize a bunch of curves all in one go but the result is that only 1 curve of the buch is rasterized into a pixel layer. The curves were drawn in Photo with the pen tool, on a separate layer. Select all curves via the layer panel > click rasterize : just one is rasterized, the rest remain as they are, see selected curve in the attachment. Possibly this isn't even possible to do - I don't know. Could someone please enlighten me ? Thanks a lot, as always, Best, Catlover

Go to: View > Grid & Axis Manager >Select Basic > Select "Show Axis Editing Handles". Now : In the left hand upper corner you'll see a red and a green line, with a center point. Be sure to have snapping "ON", then drag to anywhere on the page. That will be your new zero point. Unfortunately that information does not correspond with the Transformation Panel. You'll have to set that manually.

To my knowledge, no there isn't as such. There is a macro for Photo that you can try. You can find it in Resources, but the result doesn't quite look the same. There also is an excellent little app called Photosketcher for Mac, there's also a Windows version. Very versatile and it's free. The result can be edited in AffPhoto.
