  1. is this the same for other formats like PNG? Because for me regardless of the setup, what pixel is masking what, everything and I mean everything is lost
  2. just as a heads up the 'Alpha Chanel Packing' tutorial no longer works for alpha values of 0, affinity in its infinite wisdom patched out the one work around and its now impossible to do what you want 🙃
  3. that still seems to not work, the image when inspected with blender looses all the data, its just all white... Is there some special export setting required?
  4. I assume it should work regardless of what the channel mixer is nested on? since its all just the same data being modified no? All I want is to have the alpha channel be 0, whilst not messing with the RGB channels AlphaTest.afphoto
  5. I followed it along but I must be missing a step as it always just comes out black, Im trying to set the alpha channel to 0 because a shader uses alpha to control something and I need it not to so it must be 0. However when I drag the greyscale layer to the top of the stack and rasterize to a mask it just makes the entire thing black. Firstly editing the greyscale layer does nothing visibly so I dont even know if its working in the first place, the composite alpha channel stays white regardless of the greyscale value in the Alpha layer I made, It also just doesn't update the channel mixer when I set the values correctly, they just immediately reset to controlling the red channel when I reopen the window? When inspected with something like blender to see the rgb channels, they're all just white now? It also made the alpha channel itself white when it should be black? This whole work around is god awful just because they don't care about a certain group of users trying to use a very often needed feature...
  6. Amazed this thing still hasn't had a single ounce of development, it's still in the same state of "do this 20 step process that in convoluted and makes no sense" to just about scrape by. after watching all these tutorials and reading what everyone else has done I still have 0 clue how to do this. I dont get why rgb has to be tied to alpha in the first place I have this setup right now which just combines rgb channels and I wanted to add another for the alpha channel, however everything just goes wrong once I try add it in, for starters the filters must have alpha ticked otherwise nothing shows up in any channel which already is weird since it should still have the other colour channel data to use? The alpha should be the exact same system no? as long as it only modifies the alpha then the other data shouldn't be touched, however it seems like the moment I vary the alpha it affects all the other colour channels. So now my other channels have gone from being preserved to having this god awful alpha messing around with it. Red channel Red channel now with alpha messing it up Is it really this hard to just have alpha stay in its own god damn lane?
  7. It would be really nice to see some development being done on this area as it feels really tacky having to use workarounds to achieve basic tasks, having all the channels independent from each other would mean that each channel cant interfere with the others. which is perfect for when you need to combine multiple greyscale images in each channel.
  8. So im trying to individually control rgba channels for a project and im running into an issue where if the alpha channel is fully transparent (0) then the pixels loose their rgb colour values, ideally id like them to maintain that colour information so I can still access it later on Running a few searching through google and the forums I am unable to find any information on this, any help would be greatly appreciated
  9. Going to bump this because it is an issue that needs to be fixed asap, running version 1.10.5 and just lost a days work because it wouldn't allow me to save the file anywhere, I tried C:/, D:/, E:/, F:/, sub folders, external drives, usb, and yet it still failed to save the file because it could not be written to, after a while of trying to save, it would pop up a message saying it is now corrupt and will need to close, automatically closing my workstation without any way to stop it. Made even greater by the lack of autosave meaning if its gone its gone forever, really wished I just stuck to PS at this point. The steps to replicate this: Open affinity designer -> make file -> save file -> "failed to save document, save failed because the file could not be written to" I know its not to do with any interfering software as I have tried it on a clean install of windows as well. Any other apps will save bar affinity's collection.
  10. would be really nice to have more insight on this, especially with the rate that dds file format is being more preferred with game engines and renderers. it also is great to be able to manipulate mipmaps and its a shame to not see dds being supported, or even discussed higher up.
