  1. Thank you for this reply. I do respect your priorities and choices, even though I hoped they would be different. It's your software and you definitely know your customers better than me. I also think that this feature, without moving into an outright CAD application, would broaden that customer base considerably by enabling the software for makers and fablabs. I will resign from further pestering this forum for the feature and buy another group of licenses for CorelDraw instead since DXF/DWG is vital for our labs workflow. Best wishes /schack
  3. For 5 years!?!? They commented about lots of other feature requests. Come up with something better! 😕
  4. So you don't know anything about the file formats I mention but still need to chip in with Adobe bashing and suggest online converters? You clearly have no idea! 😕
  5. Did you notice that most of them are from before there was dedicated feedback threads? One of them being mine and almost 5 years old! 😕
  6. No complaints from me. I did sorta hijack the announcement tread, but calculated that it might get some attention that way. Meh, it sorta didn't. 😕
  7. Have you tried searching for how many request threads there are for this feature? 😄 It might be "the right place" but no one from affinity or any moderator have answered any questions on the subject since 2015!
  8. This completely validates my previous argument. Stonewalled yet again. 😞 If this forum and this post on a new release is NOT the place for this conversation then, i ask, where is?? How do you clarify what your user want and need? Is it only some arbitrary in-house process? Too many expectations you say? I can find requests for this feature dating back to a couple of months after the initial release of Designer. We don't have any expectations left. 🙂
  9. It's fantastic that Affinity regularly updates Designer, Photo and Publisher. And even more fantastic that the updates are free for existing user. Kudos for that. But, and there is a but, I would gladly pay for premium updates and requested features if that would lead to more developers where being hired to work on the software. One of the most requested features since 2015, DXF/DWG filesupport, is sadly again not a part of the current update. And my only guess is a lack of manpower. This feature would open up Designer to a massive market of makers/physical designers (and a range of machines like laser cutters, folio cutters and CNC routers) and would probably pay for itself in increased sales in a very short time. There is only a very few programs with DXF/DWG support on the mac and they all cost 10 times what Designer cost. Lastly I'm perpetually stunned by that lack of communication on this subject. It feels like every time someone writes about it in this forum they are getting stonewalled by moderators or affinity itself. What is that about?
  10. You have been "considering this" since the first requests from users began back in 2015, maybe even earlier. Its been an export option in Illustrator and CorelDraw for ages, even Inkscape does it. I would just like Affinity to come clean about it. Is it even on the roadmap? Do they acknowledge that any modern vector application should be able to export to the most broadly adopted file format across digital production machines? Why has something that seems simple, an export option, taken so long to implement? Is it a royalty issue? I just want some answers since I've been awaiting this since I first bought Designer back in 2015.

  12. Should we just lay this whole DXF issue to rest? Affinity clearly doesn't want to support this and does definitely not what to communicate with their users and paying customers.
  13. Nope. Same route for our design lab. Designer is useless for laser cutters since it can't export DXF or illustrator. Since we're an educational institution we could buy Corel Draw classroom sets for both Mac and Win for about the same cost as Designer. I was actually both surprised and disappointed that neither of the export options was included in the 1.7 release. I've deleted Designer since it won't see much use anymore.
  14. The arrival of CorelDraw for mac and the lack of responsiveness from the Affinity dev-team, has tipped the scales in favor of Corel. Our lab just bought 30 edu licenses for our design and prototype lab here at Roskilde University. As a longtime Designer user I had hoped for something else. :-/ The lack of useful file exports for CNC/Laser/CAD makes Designer a poor choice for physical design.
  15. This is what I need more than anything to make Designer my day-to-day tool. I'm even willing to pay for the upgrade is Serif has to pay a licensing fee to AutoDesk. There are no functional vector-drawing app for mac out there with this functionality. Please make this happen in the forthcoming v.1.7 update. :-)
