  1. I currently use Dark Table. The learning curve is flat, but it works well and is free and has stuff like a good dark mode. Consider trying it. It has all the capabilities to be a great DAM, but it's not the more intuitive tool to use. Batch processing for example is harder to do than in Lightroom, but can be done with the same results, even though it's a bit convoluted with how to set up a processing template. I mainly use it for batch processing and photo selection after shootings.
  2. I mean, can you open the file? I'm using Serif Labs RAW Engine. As for compression: No idea. It doesn't tell me that in the exif. Is there a way to identify that in the file?
  3. Affinity Photo v2.0.4 on macOS v13.3.1 – can't open Nikon .nef RAW files made with a Z9. Please advise. File appended. DSC_6063.NEF
  4. The Issue has in fact been resolved @Dan C, thanks for asking / reminding me to update. Topic can get closed.
  5. Application is freezing Same bug in affinity Publisher 2.0.3, Designer 2.0.0 worked fine, Designer 2.0.3 broke it. Reinstalled all of them, bugs persisted. Is there a way to downgrade back to 2.0.0? There seem to be issues with 2.0.3 across all the applications when it comes to rendering the canvas. Idk maybe a Fridays commit. I'm on Ventura 13.0.1 with a maxed out MBP Max. Pretty sure hardware isn't the issue here. Edit: Find previous versions here
  6. Both the file that I'm trying to open (a screenshot from a youtube comment section) as well as a clip of the unexpected behavior. clip.mov
  7. Just upgraded affinity photo to 2.0.3 and it seems like it's opening the file, but does not render it on the canvas, making the application unresponsive. Please fix asap.
  8. I'm really frustrated with this. Affinity said they are working on a DAM and instead of the money they could earn with this, they release v2. I'm not complaining but so many people are waiting for a DAM that at this point I wonder how long we are supposed to pay for Adobe products until we can finally uninstall that the Adobe malware from our devices. I want a full Affinity eco system but Affinity leaves the photographers hanging.
  9. Okay I just found out: If you have a selection already in place when you add the life filter layer, the mask will automatically subtract the masked area. Docs: https://affinity.help/photo/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Layers/livefilters.html?title=Using Live Filters
  10. How I work How I worked with adjustment layers before: I had a freshly developed photo, then went Layer > New Live Filter Layer > e.g. sharpen > e.g. high pass (to reduce noise) I then inverted the layer and exposed the motive, to the background woundn't be affected by the sharpen filter. The Problem That's slow as f. If I could use the selection brush tool to make the rough selection and literally only refine the selection in the live filter layer mask with refine selection, that would be dope
