  1. I can confirm @affinians description. Almost the same behavior here. I have not tested enough, but it seems to me, that Affinity Photo V2 doesn't have this problem. AP V2 seems to me to be more stable than AD all in all. But this may be related to the different kind of projects I use both for. AD V1 doesn't show this lags either on my system. My system: Windows 11, Intel i7 11370H, 32GB ram, Intel Iris XE Graphics/nvidia RTX 3060 TI Laptop
  2. In V2 you can switch between tools by pressing the same tool shortcut again. For example, if you press P to activate the pen tool and press P a second time you switch to the move tool or the node tool (depends on what was used before). The other way around you can switch between tools by pressing V or A. This might be a good workflow for some people, but I drives me crazy when using the app "blind", i.e. without checking the tool palette every time I select a tool by shortcut. Sometimes I press the shortcut for a tool a second time, just to be sure to use this tool now and instead of the tool for this shortcut I get the move tool or the node tool. I would prefer to turn off this "feature", because instead of making my workflow faster it slows me down. I would like to have just one shortcut for one tool.
  3. You could also try to export to a different format as PDF or SVG and open it in AD Version 1.
  4. Unfortunately, it's the same here. After some zooming and panning the screen sooner or later AD stops working, as seen in the video above. Very hard to reproduce as it doesn't seem to depend on the same steps. Once I can work for a longer time (say 20 minutes) without AD crashing, sometimes it crashes after just some zooming. You never know when it will happen, but it will. At least in my experience.
  5. The abbility to UNDO by tapping with two fingers and REDO by tapping with three fingers on Windows Devices (like Surface Tablets) would also be very nice. For now the history studio is the only way to do this without a keyboard.
  6. That may or may not be a legitimate request. I personally hate the Mac way to have no application frames and the ability to see other app palettes or windows behind the app in front and was really glad about Adobe introducing the application frames. But if it would be optional, I would have no problem with this. I'm sorry to take your request here as a reason for another topic, but it is another example of this, that the tone here on the forum lately leaves a lot to be desired. At least a "please" would not have hurt the desire. "Give me back" reads like it was yours before and Serif stole it from you. A great many users here are very demanding and formulate their criticism in a way as if Serif had personally insulted them with the appearance of V2.
  7. In Affintiy Photo 2 on Windows 11 it is possible to select a locked pixel layer by clicking on non-transpartent pixels (not by dragging a selection rect) if this layer is the bottom layer in the layer stack. This doesn't work always at the first try, but if you click some more times the locked layer will be selected in the end. If this layer is moved to a position other than the bottom, it can't be selected anymore on canvas. Same with pixel persona in Affintiy Designer Version 2. This bug doesn't seem to exist in Affinty Photo Version 1. (Windows 11, Surface Laptop Studio, Affintiy Photo Version 2)
  8. I would like to add here: "This is essential!" How shall I live without my morning toast! 🙃
  9. I disagree. I am working with both, Affinity Photo/Designer and Photoshop/Illustrator. I personally can't see an advantage of PS SmartObjects over the various ways that the Affintiy apps offer to deal with placed images, scaling by keeping the original resolution, repeating objects while keeping the ability to change them all at once at any time, distorting objects by keeping them editable etc. which are all aspects that SmartObjects are handling. You can use many different ways to substitude PS SmartObjects: Starting with linked images, live filters on image layers or groups of images/pixel layers, using chaining objects in AP, using Symbols in AD etc.. Each method has its own advantages or shortcommings. But the best of all is: you can adjust or edit the contents live and in its context. With SmartObject you are always landing in a new separate window if you are going to edit the content. You have to place the original context (the document that contains the SmartObject) in its window side by side with the window of the edited SmartObject to see, what your changes at the SmartObject mean to the main document. Otherwise editing the SmartObject becomes just guesswork and you have always to switch back and forth between the documents. In the Affintiy apps you can always stay in context an see the changes live. Ok, not in case of editing linked documents. The great strength of the Affintiy apps is the possibility to combine the tools and functions of all three apps. For example, the live distortions in AP can't handle vector graphics. But you can create the vector part in a separate AD document that can be linked to an AP document and combined with live distortion. If you need, you can edit the vectors in AD again and the updated file placed in the AP document will still be distorted. And the best: you can than open the AP file in AD and go on with vectors. You can even adjust the live distortion in AD, though this is a AP feature.
  10. Sorry for using this part of the Affintiy forum, but I couldn't find a place to discuss the forum software itself. Today I got the message "Sorry, you cannot add any more reactions today." when I tried to like some comments. Is this to prevent bots from spamming with likes or dislikes? Why can I only respond a few times a day? I mean, liking or disliking a comment doesn't hurt. It just expresses the opinion someone has about a comment. Is there a limit for writing comments as well? I would really like to see this restriction removed.
  11. Thank you for this tip! I had not seen this option. It's even better because you can click anywhere without leaving isolation mode.
  12. Yes! If you put some shapes into a group or under a layer you can Alt-click the thumbnailof this group or layer in the layer palette an only the content of this group or layer is shown. You can than select an manipulate any object or shape. To exit this "solo-mode" click anywhere other than on an object or shape.
  13. Can't confirm these problems. Installing the complete suite went really smooth here. The apps can be found in the "latest added"-part of the "all apps"-View in Windows 10 and startet from there. Deinstalling goes via the Windows 10 system preferences dialog -> Apps.
  14. No. Not even Adobe - the godfather of subscription - has stopped implementing new ideas and tools in their softwares. Aside that Serif still had better ideas for some tools.
  15. I think switching to a subscription only model would break their neck. Not that I personally wouldn't accept a subscription model, since this is part of my daily work software. And if it was worth the price, I would pay it. But seeing the shitstorm companies face when switching to a subscription, and how quickly they can be turned from saint to devil itself by the "community", this would plunge Affintiy/Serif into the tartarus of "yet another ex-Adobe-competitor-wannabe software". Celsys just had to face the storm after switching to a (reasonable in my eyes) subscription model. I guess they will cope with it, because their Clip Studio Paint is too good and their userbase is really large. It's a question of whether the Affinity user base is large enough for Serif to deal with the sure loss of disappointed and resentful users. Thus I don't think Serif is even seriously thinking about moving to the subscription model.
  16. @N.P.M. Yes, you're right! Obviously, I didn't look hard enough. I got this mail just now and was too excited! I needed someone to listen to my cheering 😜!
  17. Everyone, who got a special email today will understand what I mean! (Sorry, didn't find a specific thread for this, to share my enthusiasm).
  18. Ah, the wise Walt again 🤩! Many thanks for that. I must admit, that I have never looked into the assistent preferences in detail. You're right. When switching to "Brush shared between all tools" it is indeed possible to use the eraser with a brush preset, assigned specifically to the brush tool. Again something learned from you!
  19. @Komatös Sorry to say so, but that doesn't seem to work this way. I just checked this with some Frankentoon Brushes (Crayon Box, for example) where the brushes a specifically assigned to the brush tool. Selecting a crayon brush preset from that set switches the active tool to the brush. Manually selecting the eraser afterwards doesn't make the eraser use this crayon brush preset. Selecting the crayon brush preset active eraser tool switches back to the brush tool again. Thus no chance to use the crayon brush preset with the eraser tool, aside the assignment is deleted in the Affinity Photo brush editor and the modified set is importet in Affinty Designer again.
  20. I would like to pick this up. It would be really helpful to have the option (as a toggle) to just see the layers of the active artboard in the layers panel. Similar to the way pages are shown in Publisher. When working with artboards I am usually not interessted in the layers of other artboards than the active one.
  21. @Carl This completely destroys the order of the layers when copying and pasting them back into the original file. Moreover, the new document is cropped to the maximum size needed for the copied layers. This means that after pasting into the original file, the position will no longer match with the state before extracting them because the coordinates will not be the same anymore.
  22. It would be very helpful if you could set whether locked or hidden layers should be ignored when using "Select same". As it is implemented at the moment, this function is almost useless if you have many objects of the same kind on different layers and want to select them only on one layer.
