Pasting text causes whole canvas to jump
Brian D replied to Brian D's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Here's an example with just moving an artboard slightly. Brand new document, 2 artboards. Every move jumps the window slightly to the right Screen Recording 2019-06-11 at 12.26.48.mov -
Pasting text causes whole canvas to jump
Brian D replied to Brian D's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
No problem. Right click, paste, and it's fine. CMD+V and the whole canvas jumps. It's happening with more than just text, I'll try to screengrab that next time too. Untitled.mov -
Happened again this morning with another document. Embedded image files are being linked instead somehow, but I don't see any way to change this behaviour?
-
As the title says, every time I paste text that isn't confined to a paragraph box it causes the whole canvas to jump on screen to the end of the sentence. It's really jarring.
-
Actually, I can make it happen with a new document just by hitting "Open in Photo". The files loses the embedded image, and "Open in Designer" will be greyed out.
-
I understand Publisher will allow for resource linking or embedding, but this morning I got a popup in Designer asking me to locate missing resources. This was a file created just last week in AD 1.6, but on opening today to export it said "locate missing resources" and made me find all the images in the document and replace them. I can't replicate this, as the file opens fine now having re-added the images, but this bug (if it happened again) would make AD completely unreliable for use in a work environment.

On desktop, when I export a PDF and select "Whole document" as the area, it exports each artboard as a page in the PDF. On iPad, when I export the same document to PDF and select "Whole document", it exports the artboards together as one big image (much like exporting a JPEG on desktop) rather than individual pages.

Toolbar issue in Designer for MacOS 1.7.0 (split)
Brian D replied to tokai's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
It reset my toolbars and studio panels on update. MAS version on 2 machines. -
Strokes have gotten even worse in 1.7.0
Brian D replied to Brian D's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
Thank you! I'm guessing that fix has been around a while and I just missed it? Regardless, this is great, really appreciate it! -
Strokes always had problems with hard corners, but they've gotten even worse in this version (MAS 1.7). See attached video Screen Recording 2019-06-05 at 15.51.03.mov

User installed fonts and the iOS app(s)
Brian D replied to Brian D's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Thanks for answering that, and yeah AnyFont is one of the apps that allows installing via management profiles. That being the case, I think this is really important, could a mod move this to feature requests? Or should I start a new thread there? -
Forgive me if this has been answered elsewhere, but I've looked and haven't found an answer. How does AP on the iPad handle fonts? By which I mean installing your own fonts? iOS doesn't allow a user to install custom fonts. It can be done per font using a hacky third party app that adds fonts using MDM certificates/profiles. So how will the Affinity apps handle using custom fonts? I've seen some apps allow for installing your own fonts within the app itself, Graphic handles this using Dropbox (not sure if they ever updated to use iCloud Drive). This may not be the end of the world right now for Photo, but once you release Designer I feel it'll be a make or break feature. Speaking as a working graphic designer, I couldn't get by with just Apple's system installed fonts. It'll also be a nightmare if you plan on allowing us to open AD/AP files created in the Mac or Windows apps – all fonts used will substitute for Affinity's default. I've just ordered the new iPad Pro, and once it arrives I'll buy a copy of Photo. Very excited to see what it can do.

Please remember RAW processing settings
Brian D replied to matthiasbasler's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
Non destructive develop layer is on the roadmap (https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/10075-affinity-photo-feature-roadmap/), so I think it's being worked on... but yeah, I'd like to second this request, it's pretty important for raw development. -
Use gradients from palette as a gradient map?

Is it possible to use one of my pre-made gradients from the colour palette as a gradient map? I've tried clicking, dragging, everything I can think of; but I'm stuck with the three built in gradient maps or the option to make mine again from scratch. Any ideas?

Is auto lens correction only supported on Micro 4/3 cameras? None of the lenses for my A6000 seem to be supported, but Sony e mount cameras also embed lens correction data in the raw files. Edit: sorry I didn't think this question had posted (didn't appear) so I created a thread in Questions/Feedback with the same question.

@Balling, You're technically correct, but it honestly feels like splitting hairs. Every print shop I've worked with request a file at 300dpi... to achieve what they're asking for I create a document at 300ppi in PS/Ai/iD. The term dpi may be used incorrectly here, but in the 15 years I've been in design I've never once had a print shop ask for a file using the correct terminology. Correcting them would probably just make me look like a smug twat. Designers don't have to worry about dpi unless they're the ones printing, but creating a document at 300 ppi or dpi (depending on your design software) is achieving what the print shop is asking for. Kudos to you for learning and using the correct terminology (genuinely, not sarcastically), but changing dpi to ppi in Affinity's UI probably isn't going to make or break anything other than being technically correct.

Damn, sorry it's not working. It works very well for me in the same situations I used Illustrator. You can get a refund from iTunes really easily if it's no good to you.

I don't know for how long, but AppShopper notified me today that it dropped from €20 down to €0.99. If you don't have access to Illustrator, then this is probably your best bet for image tracing vectors until Affinity has the feature natively. Just thought I'd let anyone interested know. https://itunes.apple.com/app/id704139979

Text size increments buttons
Brian D replied to evtonic3's topic in Older Feedback & Suggestion Posts
The keyboard shortcut changes text sizes in massive increments. The mouse wheel works very poorly on a trackpad. It zooms up and down, and requires a lot of finesse to stop it in the right spot. Little increment buttons that move by one stop, like every other attribute in the character panel has, would be really useful. Edit: I've just noticed that holding alt/option at the same time reduces the increments. Helpful, but I'd still prefer increment buttons. -

Yes please, it'd be a massive help. -
Currently you can only search swatches when in the main swatches panel. If you try to edit a global colour, and choose swatches from the dropdown, you have to scroll through all the colours and pick it manually by eye/hover. I'd like the search bar to also appear in the secondary swatches panel. Thanks.
