Yeh it doesn't really achieve what I require but thanks. I tried to upload an example image but keep getting a -200 error! Imagine a letter S made up of two lines. How would you draw that while maintaining perfect gap between each line throughout but also ending up with two separate paths at the end? Not one path with two strokes. A tool to draw paths quickly in any shape while maintaining a gap between would be very powerful I think.

Should of mentioned multiple strokes to a single line won't work for the project as some line eventually need to veer off and then over lap other lines and have their own individual style. So the multiple line would need to be 'expanded' after drawing but still to remain as lines/paths. So basically quickly draw 5 lines in a row then once finished drawing they are now 5 separate paths that can have their own style and be edited individually. Hope that makes sense.

Just working on some posters using a great deal of curved lines in abstract form. Think stylised road maps. Im having a lot of trouble trying to create two or three lines that follow the same path but sit alongside each other and have a little space in between each one. Hard to explain but imagine drawing with a fork. You'd get four or 5 lines all following the same path but with space in between each line. Can we have a 'multiple line tool' added? Or maybe I'm missing something and there's a way to achieve this already?

Is it me or is this behaviour not quite right? As much as I'd love to, I rarely use Affinity (see my other posts) but the behaviour seems to have changed in the colour chooser, its seems odd at best. Why do some colour spaces have a full window spectrum while CMYK for example has a tiny slither? Untitled.mov

All his images are on external drives. His Mac has over 1TB free space. It literally has Affinity Photo on it and shortcuts on his desktop to the external drives thats it. He's not computer literate at all really but ive set him up with APhoto on a new Mac and a simple workflow for adjusting his images from his camera and I've taught him the basics. The tutorial videos have helped him a lot. He takes a lot of wildlife photos as a hobby. I notice 1.8.3 is out now so I'll see if its fixed or not the next time he calls.

My dad is getting a similar issue on his set up except he doesn’t use mail or receive any notifications. If he clicks into Finder then tries to go back to Affinity, the UI appears but Finder doesn’t release and it’s as though you are in Affinity but can’t click anything. If you look at top left to see what app you’re in it still says Finder. When you try to quit nothing happens so you have to force quit Affinity and restart. It’s sporadic. He has nothing but base installation of Latest MacOS and affinity photo on his Mac. He uses healing tool often but not sure it’s related. He uses separated mode.

Thats a fair point and you can't knock Affinity team for that. There needs to be some incentive to upgrade. However what is happening in my experience is some of these oft requested features that are in most professional environments essential and will not, or have not so far, been included, are eroding peoples interest in Affinity as they originally wanted to leave Adobe's money grabbing and bloated software at all costs, found they couldn't and now are slowly just accepting paying the instalments of a CC subscription so its going to be harder for Affinity to win more customers the longer the features are spread out. Thats my opinion anyhoo. Im still holding out but can't forever as when hardware slowly gets upgraded for various reasons and it comes with the latest this and that it will unfortunately mean more subscriptions to the latest Adobe CC. Im trying desperately to hold onto Adobe CS6 so I'm not locked into the subscription if and when Affinity comes of age. If I end up all in with Adobe CC then it will be difficult to jump ship afterwards after my staff all get used to the setup.

I still can't use the Affinity suite in my studio for this very reason. I keep checking back hoping there will be some hint that it will be added and with MEB confirming it will be added at some point makes me happy but its a bit sad that its wasn't included initially as without it most professionals simply can't use Publisher. I know quite a lot of professional designers that were very keen on Affinity suite but have now given up waiting and stayed with Adobe and they have now lost all interest in Affinity. Words used are "its too much messing around to change now, even if it works". Im still hoping to include it.

Also have this problem but can't reset the application. No modifier key works?!

Hmm.. ok. Well this happens on two separate iMacs. I used various RAW files from https://rawsamples.ch/index.php/en/ to test different types. I notice on a non Catalina Mac that cancelling of the RAW process also leaves a blank window which is odd behaviour as you then have to manually close it afterwards but at least it doesn't crash when you try to open another RAW file afterwards. Should the image and window close or just the image disappear from the window when you click 'cancel'? The video attached shows the blank window stay open. Which in my opinion is odd behaviour. Not sure if thats by design, if so its more extra clicks for the user that aren't needed. Anyhoo.. It's after this point on my Catalina Macs that if I try to open a RAW file after this thats when it crashes. rawmovie.mov

Hi MEB, Just out of interest have you managed to replicate the crash using the method above?

So ive had a little play. It crashes with any RAW format. I think ive also determined how to crash it too. Basically if you open a RAW image then choose cancel top left and confirm with Yes. Instead of closing the image, the image disappears but the window remains albeit blank. So you click the close button in the top left to get rid. If you then try to open a RAW file again thats when it crashes. Crash log attached. crash report.txt

Its a .CR2 format. Camera is Canon 1DX. It's actually my Dad's set up not mine. I don't know much about RAW files. I'll try and get the crash report.

Almost every time I open a RAW file since updating to Catalina APhoto crashes to desktop! No matter how I open it (double clicking from finder or choosing open through dialogues) it crashes more often than not. This happens on two Macs with everything updated.

While its possible to create posters, documents etc in Designer, Designer is more for the creation of assets (logos, illustrations etc) to then be placed into Publisher. The same with Photo. Create your imagery then import to Publisher where you have full control of layout, links etc. I personally always link as it reduces duplicates when using the same assets again and again and its also much quicker to edit just one file and it update across the board.

I agree. Especially with print AND pixel dimensions needing to be shown.

Enter should be for applying the changes. Your method requires two hits of 'enter' to apply the changes unlike only one for other apps. Its a case of efficiency. I personally process huge quantities of images and small inefficiencies in UI can build up to a lot of time wasted with extra clicks, taps and mouse movements that are simply not needed. In a one off instance one extra click is not a big deal. Its when you broaden things out to high end professional workflows where the current UI starts to fail. Its inefficient. As a side note I also suffer RSI (probably from my crazy work load) so on a strictly personal level its even more paramount regarding less clicks, obviously i don't expect you to take that into account Im just saying. If the input boxes updated live, by that i mean as you type, the other fields linked to it auto update instantly, you then can see without having to click, or hit enter, or do anything what the results of your current input are going to be. If you're happy with them, hit enter to apply. Think of a workflow where Im sent an image from a client. It needs resizing, the colours adjusting, maybe some editing. I then need to put that into Publisher, set the positioning, any possible effects etc. Along a workflow all those extra clicks really add up and thats just one image. EDIT: A very clear example of the extra clicks here and there throughout the Affinity suite is the Colour Picker tool. There is a needless click required to make it work in Affinity. This even caught out the guy doing the Publisher keynote for Affinity Live (apologies i forgot his name - great keynote by the way). One would simply expect you click on the tool, mouse over the area you wish to sample and simply click the mouse to have the colour loaded and ready to go. Affinity's current implementation makes you mouse all the way back over to the Colour Picker window and then click the colour thats now appeared next to the eye dropper to actually activate the colour you've just selected. Its really not intuitive or efficient, especially on a 27" screen or multiple monitor setups.

I can confirm the bug has been fixed which is a great relief but as DaveMike has said the interface still hasn't really been improved. The description field is a very slight improvement but there are still too many clicks involved. Please make the dimensions update live (across the whole suite) as you type. This would mean you would not need the description field thats just been added as you would see the results in the fields before you hit apply. Having to click inside another input field for the one you typed into to update the rest of the window is not user friendly. Essentially just copy what everyone else does for their image resize window please. It works and is efficient. Having input fields update live across the whole suite would dramatically cut down on the amount of mouse clicks involved in a users workflow.

Seems theres a bug in Acrobat that stops the fonts from being outlined. *rolleyes* It very rarely works for me. Most instances the screen just flickers when you hit 'apply' and nothing actually happens. I give up.

I keep trying to migrate to Affinity but I'm met with not insignificant obstacles at each step. There's a big issue with Image resizing in Affinity Photo which we seem to be finally getting a fix for very soon which stopped me from using Photo since it was released and now Ive turned my attention to Publisher I've hit upon this issue at the very first step of recreating one of my publications in Publisher. I've created my template documents and gone to import the very first client provided artwork and hit upon this issue. Until it's resolved I still can't migrate to Affinity. I appreciate as Walt said, its still early days. All three apps are brilliant but there are quite a few big issues to be ironed out until they be can used in a professional environment. Yes for this particular issue you could export the PDF as a TIFF but you will lose quality when it comes to printing small type and I refuse to provide my clients with sub par work. Without the ability to import 3rd party clients work (adverts etc) I still can't use Publisher in a publishing environment.
