Bring Publisher's Paragraph Panel to Designer

Recommended Posts

I was recently setting up a simple postcard with several paragraphs of justified text. Horrible "rivers" of white (bad word spacing) occurred due to a lack of hyphenation options. That's when I noticed that the Paragraph panel controls for formatting text in Designer are incomplete: they are a subset of what is available in Publisher.

People need to set good type for all kinds of applications: simple cards, posters, as well as books. One should be able to set up a post card or a poster and set beautiful type in Designer, just as one would expect to do for a book in Publisher. But the full complement of Character and Paragraph panel controls need to be available to the user of Designer. One should be able to set their H&J's (hypenation and justification settings) for paragraphs in any of the three Affinity apps.

Please bring the full complement of typographic setting controls found in the Character and Paragraph panels in Publisher over to Designer and Photo.

Thank you.

Since APublisher is a specific word processing application, it is quite logical to include tools and features that are not available in other applications whose purpose is quite different (photo editing and vector drawing).

If for some reason you have to create a postcard in ADesigner (the standard procedure is to create it directly in APublisher), use "Edit in Publisher ..." to edit the text.
