BobWard1 Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 Just downloaded the trial version for Win7. After getting past the Windows Aero theme issue, I twice tried to open a 2.8GB tiff file. Each time I tried to open this file, it caused Affinity Photo to close. Any ideas as to what might be causing this? Quote
Staff Callum Posted September 22, 2019 Staff Posted September 22, 2019 Hi Bobward1, Welcome to the forums If possible could you provide the file in question? BobWard1 Posted September 23, 2019 Author Posted September 23, 2019 I have tried several other large (3.4 to 3.8GB) tiff files and none of them will open in Affinity Photo. Although when I attempt to open them now, the program is no longer closing. When I select the files using the Open command, nothing happens. These files were created with the Photoshop Elements 2019 editor. Callum - How do I send you such a large file? Quote
BobWard1 Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 Just read where another person is having trouble with tiff files as well. I am still on the Free Trial version, but if tiff files are going to be problematic for Affinity Photo, that would be a deal-breaker for me. Quote
BobWard1 Posted September 26, 2019 Author Posted September 26, 2019 Since the tiff files that I was trying to open still contained layers that were created in Photoshop Elements (PSE) 2019, I flattened the files in PSE to get rid of the layers. Unfortunately they still would not open in AP. Since all the tiff files were in excess of 2GB, I was getting warning messages when saving the large files in PSE. The message stated that some applications may not be able to properly read the files. So I thought the file size may have been the problem, although PSE opens these large files with no issues. So my next experiment was to save one of the flattened tiff files in an LZW compressed format to reduce the file size below 2GB. The compressed tiff file was about 398MB. Even this smaller tiff file would not open in AP. I was hoping to use AP to compliment the PSE editor, i.e., I would be moving files back & forth between the two editors. However, since the tiff files created in PSE seem to be incompatible with AP, I will have to look elsewhere for a complimentary editor. Unfortunate, since I liked several features in AP. Quote
