Shon92
I currently am making an artwork for a gatefold album to be printed on cardboard. my artboards are perfect squares. i have them how i like them. but... i need to make the artboards 141 by 126 millimetres. How do i change the size of the art boards without stretching the first layer horizontally? i filled the artboards using the fill tool and imported images. i am really worried that i may have to start again to fit the templates. hopefully this is fixable. any advice would be much apreciated
firstdefence
If you have filled the Artboard with colour, the colour will expand to fit the Artboards new dimensions. If you want the colour to remain 126x126mm you will need to remove the colour from the Artboard by clicking on the icon, then create a rectangle with the appropriate colour and use that as the Artboard background, this will not scale when you resize the Artboard. When resizing make sure you select the right anchor point on the Anchor point selector. R C-R
It isn't exactly the same thing as I assume the OP is looking for, but that inspired me to see how setting an artboard not to lock its children would work for something similar. Not surprisingly, it works fine for art text, image, & pixel layers, & for vector & shape layers (if they have strokes and the strokes are set to "Scale with object"); but not for frame text layers unless I used the 9th control handle on the canvas, preventing the use of the Transform panel for numeric resizes. What was a surprise was if there is more than one artboard, it does not seem possible to set their lock children attributes separately -- no matter what I tried, setting one to lock its children set all of them that way, & likewise for setting one not to lock them. I also tried using the new "Transform Objects Separately" option, which had no effect ... until I fiddled with it enough that Affinity Designer crashed! I think this means there is a bug somewhere in 'lock children' when used with artboards, but before I report it, I want to see if anybody else is seeing the same behavior (with or without the crash). For those willing to test this, I have attached the Unlocked children Artboards.afdesign file I used, although it might be better to start from scratch.
