Garsondelpis
Hello, Maybe this is a stupid question, but every time I open the channel mixer on Affinity Photo to modify the color levels in a picture, the red channel appears with the slider at 100% and all the rest (green, blue and alpha) appear at 0%. Do you know why this is happening? Regards, GdP.
Staff Callum Posted August 9, 2019 Staff Share Posted August 9, 2019 Hi Garsondelpis, Welcome to the forums This is because by default the output channel is set to red (See attached) Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Garsondelpis
Thanks for the answer, I noticed that, but what that means in terms of usage? I fail to understand the logic of this mixer, if the output is red, how green and blue have and influence on it? I'm used to a mixer where I simply increase or decrease the level of each channel independently, but how are they related to each specific output channel is something I don't get. And I cannot find an explanation on the documentation.,

The Channel Mixer adjustment changes what each color channel contributes to the output. If the concept of color channels is unfamiliar to you, it may help to think of the channels as if each one was a greyscale layer, so that together they 'add up' to a full color image, sort of like this: Quote All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7 Affinity Photo 1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.
