Affinity Photo - Custom Blur Tool and High Pass Tool

Recommended Posts

Use Windows 10 for my devices, desktop and laptop.  I thought I would investigate some of the lesser-used tools (new?), in the "Customise Tools" area.  Two of the ones

that I settled on were the ones in the title above.  The Custom Blur Tool, I take it is used to add blur.  It brings up the panel shown in the file attachment.  However, despite

googling on the internet with inverted commas, could not find anything about it at all.  Likewise, in the Affinity Photo Help Manual.  It is not even listed as a tool in the list in the Manual.

How does it work please?

I used the High Pass Tool, which just seems to do the same as the High Pass Filter and is destructive.  Am I understanding this right please?  Okay if that is the case, then it is

just an alternative way of proceeding.

If you do a search of the help for Custom Blur it will find the filters page. You can also use the online help file to show the same information here, and it is a destructive filter. The High Pass filter is available as a Live Filter from the Layer > New Live Layer dropdown menu which is non destructive and as a destructive filter on the Filter menu dropdown.
