Hicksdesign Posted July 24, 2019 Posted July 24, 2019 Publisher now consistently crashes just after launch, here's an example from the console log: Jul 24 14:50:46 HicksBook-Pro com.apple.xpc.launchd[1] (com.seriflabs.affinitypublisher.16284[566]): Service exited due to SIGSEGV | sent by exc handler[566] Typically, I have an urgent deadline this afternoon, and need this to work Affinity Publisher_2019-07-24-144400_HicksBook-Pro.crash Affinity Publisher_2019-07-24-145458_HicksBook-Pro.crash Affinity Publisher_2019-07-24-145459_HicksBook-Pro.crash Quote
Staff Pauls Posted July 24, 2019 Staff Posted July 24, 2019 Could you upload the document please Quote
Hicksdesign Posted July 24, 2019 Author Posted July 24, 2019 Thanks Pauls - just uploading that now... Quote
Hicksdesign Posted July 24, 2019 Author Posted July 24, 2019 I've managed to get a one hour earlier version from Dropbox which didn't crash Publisher. I wondered if the embedded-rather-than-linked images were causing it, so made the large images linked instead. However, after saving it and closing it, it now causes Publisher to crash again. Quote
Hicksdesign Posted July 24, 2019 Author Posted July 24, 2019 I've methodically done an edit, then saved, closed and reopened to see what causes the crash. I've narrowed it down to when I delete two right hand pages from the document. For some reason, introducing that edit causes Publisher to crash Quote
Staff Pauls Posted July 25, 2019 Staff Posted July 25, 2019 We have a fixed file here :- https://www.dropbox.com/s/m9iwjqdta7kt740/Jon Hicks - IHCI Progress Report 06 - fixed.afpub?dl=0 Can you give that a try. It's probably best to use the beta version as well. Quote
Hicksdesign Posted July 26, 2019 Author Posted July 26, 2019 Did you find out what the exact issue was that caused the crash? A bug, or something I'd done that caused a performance problem? As mentioned above, I found that it was related to removing pages 3 and 5. In the end I was able to drag reorder these to the end of the document and then delete them without causing a crash. I could then complete it and get it off to print. Quote
Staff Pauls Posted July 26, 2019 Staff Posted July 26, 2019 There are a few ways that the document can get into an invalid state. We think we have these fixed in the beta. they are usually related to master pages and pinning graphics Quote
