I've been considering getting APub around the time it launches, but since I haven't followed its development that closely, I wanted to ask what it is you can expect from the software that Photo and Designer can't do based on the current Beta features available.

Also, since comparisons are inevitably going to be made with InDesign, what do both softwares share in features? What can Publisher do that doesn't exist in InDesign and vice versa? I don't expect a super detailed list, but enough for someone new to both softwares to understand. Thanks.

Publisher allows you to link text frames so that you can flow text from one to the next. It also allows you to wrap text around images.

Neither Designer nor Photo currently offers pages: you can use artboards as pages in Designer, but there are some limitations. We've been told that pages will be added to the AD feature set later on.

I hope pages from Publisher are supported in Designer and Photo if you open up the file you worked on in Publisher at least.

All the indications are that we should continue to be able to edit any files that use features added in other apps in the suite (cf. amending text on a path in Photo, or adjusting live filter settings in Designer).

Fantastic. Then I can work on making PDFs with pages. Where do I sign up? :D
