AGS
I placed the attached pdf into Affinity Publisher 1.7.0.337 and Affinity Designer 1.6.1. It has embedded chinese fonts. After placement, the text looked all garbled up. (Note: This PDF works fine in Adobe Illustrator and inDesign, a friend of mine tried it) I was able to work around this issue by first converting the pdf to an eps with ghostscript: gs -q -dNOCACHE -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -dSAFER -sDEVICE=eps2write -sOutputFile=output.eps CO-invpw19_CHS.pdf Then, the converted eps file was placed properly in Affinity Publisher and Affinity Designer. Staff MEB Posted May 31, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 31, 2019 Hi AGS, Welcome to Affinity Forums Do you have the fonts installed in the system you are trying to open the PDF? Currently Affinity apps don't support embedded fonts. You need to have the fonts installed on your system to see the document properly. AGS
Hi MEB, Thanks for your quick reply! I indeed don't have the fonts installed on my system. Are there plans to eventually support embedded fonts?
Staff MEB Posted May 31, 2019 Staff Share Posted May 31, 2019 Yes, there's plans to add support for embedded fonts but it will take some time until we get there. A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
