MikeFromMesa Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Can APB handle layered tiff files? I created a tiff file in Photoshop (well, Elements 13), saved it and loaded it into APB. It loaded, but only one layer showed up. I then created a new image, with layers, in APB, exported it as a tiff and loaded it into Elements and only found a single layer. I know that when I Save a tiff back to my workflow software I am asked if I want to flatten it, but I always assumed that this was only Save functionality, not Export functionality and I could, if I wanted to, export the tiff with layers. Is APB automatically flattening tiffs when it exports them? And, if so, will this functionality change before the actual release? I am asking this question out of curiosity. I can always export an image as a psd if I need the layers, but I don't know if this is designed behavior, a bug or an undocumented feature. Thanks.
toyotadesigner Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 A TIFF per se is not layered. Unless you have an option to select during export you can't save a TIFF with layers. But what is the problem to save a TIFF with layers with a different name? hobbyists discuss new camera features photographers discuss new software masters discuss light
MikeFromMesa Posted April 23, 2015 Author Posted April 23, 2015 A TIFF per se is not layered. Unless you have an option to select during export you can't save a TIFF with layers. But what is the problem to save a TIFF with layers with a different name? A tiff may or may not exist as a layered file. Certainly you can load an image, create adjustment layers and save that image as a tiff along with the existing layers. You can do this in Photoshop, both the full version and Elements, reload the images and the layers are still there. You can load such an image into PhotoLine and the layers are still there (although it flattens the image if you save it that way), but if you load that same layered tiff into APB it automatically flattens the image. I was asking if there was any way in APB to save a tiff as a layered file (I can not find any such way) and if this was to be the default functionality when the product is released. LilleG 1
