HI mindfakir,

View > Studio > Transform ,unlock the aspect ratio and change the width to need.

But you'll still need to drag them in place !!

By "a precise length" do you mean you want to stretch or shrink just the width or height of the photos, which would change the aspect ratio & possibly make them look odd, or scale both width & height proportionally to avoid that? Also, do all the photos have the same aspect ratio even if they are not the same size, & do you want to crop any of them rather than or in addition to resizing them to get them all to the same size?

Depending on what it is you want to do, one very flexible way to do it is to clip Placed photos into rectangles, with the rectangles set to the width & height you want. The technique is demonstrated in the Affinity Photo - Clipping vs Masking video tutorial, beginning at about 2:30. The placed photos can be resized & moved around within the rectangles to crop them as needed, & the process is non-destructive.
